Haha dude, Minidisc players! I loved mine. I think I crushed it trying to skate with it in my pocket.

They really were awesome.

I'm surprised by the distaste for The Beatles and King Crimson but can't argue against it. I imagine a lot of you might feel the same way about this entry:

Never got into Fleetwood Mac. If I had to guess why people are into them, it'd be the "big band" complexity, inclusion of non-traditional rock and roll instruments, songwriting, etc. But I just can't relate. I'm not a big classic rock guy in general. I think I grew up with it on the radio too much where it felt too standard for me. The stuff that spoke to me more as I grew up and got into music have the louder, noiser, punk influence of stuff from the late 70s on. That's tangential but kind of related in that Fleetwood Mac just feels a little flat for me.

But I really like "Dreams." Like I said, they feel flat as a band to me, but for some reason the subtle backwards guitar fills and quiet bass line really grab me on this one.

I wanna see more explanations.

cause I bootlegged this song and sold it at our all ages shows. cause fuck Integrity. cause we booked them to play and just ended up fist fighting with them and their meathead crew. cause fuck Integrity. I fucking love their music. It is the best music to fight to. but ya, fuck Integrity. This song is one of the goat. Fuck Integrity.

You are not the first person I've heard talk about fist fighting Integrity. I can't speak for everyone but I'll happily hear the story. Maybe put it in the Hardcore thread so we don't get sidetracked here. http://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=70886.0

I've just never liked their overall song style and singing outside of this track. Of course, I've only heard a handful of songs by them over the years, but Everlong is the only one I have liked at all so I really don't feel the motivation to listen to a full album and see if they have any other bangers. They just sound too boring to me. Everything is just standard rock. The guitars aren't especially noisy or pretty, the singing isn't amazing or horrible, they don't play super fast or slow. They're just a straightforward rock band and it doesn't appeal to me. The only response I can think of when listening to them is "oh, there's four more minutes of this?" I did know an autistic guy who exclusively wore Foo Fighter shirts and that was pretty sick.

My Fleetwood track is The Chain, the story of them recording it separately because they were feuding adds some spice. But that fucking bass line around 4:00 gets me juiced. If it pops up on the shuffle I don't ever skip it,but most of their other stuff isn't my speed. I think I see a part edited to it (or was there one already? I can't recall)

they've got a huge catalog with a more things i'm not into than things i like but they definitely had some great tracks in their prime. i always liked this clip from right after stevie joined the band. the write up i saw was saying they were already a very popular band with the audience but know one knew who she was and then she came out and crushed it and after that the band wasn't really thought of as not being her band. i kind of like the idea of her being this early rock girl.

I've never really been impressed by Estelle. She has a nice voice and all, but her songs all sound so plain to me, especially compared to similar singers. I get bored listening to them. With that, Cee-Lo has a lot I don't care for as well.

This song though, man does it get me going. About ten years ago, I had a part time job working in the catalog department of a JC Penney. By that time, everyone was doing their ordering online, so nobody under the age of 80 came to the corner of the store where I was sequestered. It was a lot of monotonous busy work and excruciating boredom. My phone got no reception in that part of the building, I couldn't bring something to read, I got reprimanded for even doodling. It's hard for me to overstate just how boring this job was. The store had a playlist of insufferable top 40 "hits" that played on a loop, usually repeating 2 or 3 times during a shift. When this song came on though, I felt pure joy. It was like the feeling I would have when I finally got out of work, but only for four minutes. I can't put my finger on why, but I just found it so damn catchy and uplifting. I don't dance, but this song always makes me want to

OP, how you gunna hate on INXS?
I'm Aussie though (and grew up in the area where they are from) so I may be heavily biased

Hey jealousy- the gin blossoms
Would go so goood in an edit I donít know why
Fucking yes!!! I put this on a mix tape in the late 90s and when my mates were like, "nice ironic use of that song" and I was like "ironic?" :-\

I pulled my MD player out the other day but alas it doesn't work anymore. Sux, cuz I reckon the MDs themselves could survive an atomic blast!!

My contribution:

(and to a lesser extend 'been caught stealing')
I'm a 90s kid but could never really understand the hype behind this band. Jane Says is a fucking classic tho!

for me this song

never really liked their music but after seeing the fucking hilarious video where noel rips into his on video catalog and that got me more curious about their music and that live version of don't look back in anger has just stuck with me. i popped in in this weekend when i was chilling outside smoking a cigar and sipping a tequila.

i never really liked them because i mostly just heard them on the radio and they seemed like a beatles cover band. i didn't hate their songs just found them boring.

Helter Skelter fucking RIPS.
YES. Don't even like the Beatles like my old man does, but that song is absolute Rock n Roll.
