what i mean when i say "cant believe people are still fucking with magenta in 2018" is that magenta was merely just a fad in 2013-2014; as was welcome/shaped boards.

Dope interview. I particularly enjoyed the reflective aspects about the existential stuff and the stuff about being a local and getting involved at the city level. Would have liked to have heard more about the city stuff, actually, and was kind of bummed that it was at the end and didn't have more follow up questions.

Would be interesting to see some comparative look at how different skaters are relating to municipal governments and "regulating" skating in order to allow it to happen. I remember reading some stuff about the Santa Monica Courthouse and some other spots, but might be interesting to write up something cohesive that outlines different strategies and tactics that skaters have engaged in while relating to city governments.

You have to have a certain kind of magic like Leo to make a simple bs noseslide look that good. The way he links tricks is so special, his style really has matured. It's got flow and rythm, just so inspiring.

My 2 cents about the subjects broached: I think he always had his own style, from the very first vid I saw him in, he stood way out. He's just mastered his craft. Also, about the bag of tricks: age comes into play there too.... What I mean is, a powerslide variation feels more classic to me than a nollie flip. My old ass skated a good 6 to 7 years before I ever saw a nollie flip!

The clip is nice. 16mm is always nice. But the music is absolutely terrible and at the end of the day it's just one more short edit that everybody will have forgotten by the beginning of next week. I understand that it was just made to illustrate the interview but I'd rather get something a little more meaningful.

After finishing the interview, I can say it's definitely a great nerdy read. Honestly, if I could switch places with any current sponsored skateboarder right now, it would probably be him. As 'overboard' as he may be sometimes with his moves or 'tricks', he makes skating look accessible, relatable and relatively safe and you know he'll be doing it forever which is great. What he's doing for his area is very commendable. Bordeaux looks like an amazing idea place to skate and live.

leo and 16mm is a nice combo, also remained me to re watch this part skating that milan plaza. really shows off how good his ledge skating is.

I get that his gig is all the power slide variations these days, but I remember being hyped on him 10 years ago at least when he was just a very stylish street skater.
I think he needs to re-boost his identity in the industry with another sick skate part that actually has solid tricks that won't have the other dudes at the plaza mocking you. Maybe then people will get back into Magenta and all his hype.
