Best selling board brand 2017?
« on: January 13, 2018, 02:31:28 AM »
FA? Quasi? Polar?

Or are kids in the suburbs outbuying these brands with Plan B or Element?

I understand that it can be a regional thing but I would be interested to see if anyone (especially people working in shops) can chime in.

Well, might as well get my first kook question of the day out early :

Once it's all said and done, are the real sales information/reports posted?

I can't look at transworld busi-ahem- GrindTV,without puking, and about that: how trustworthy are the figures provided? I'm assuming since these are all basically private companies, they could report 'whatever', like some probably do in a lot of areas?

I was/am amazed by how many Almost boards and completes the shop I work for sells, thanks almost entirely to their DC Comics (Batman, Superman etc) and Hanna Barbera collabs. Surprised the shit out of me.

In our experience, the likes of Polar and Welcome outsell Quasi pretty comfortably. Santa Cruz is another 'surprise' seller. Baker and Deathwish still move decks but it's getting less every year. We sell hardly any Crail boards these days.

Realistically, probably Primitive. They’re the most distributed board company possible worldwide unfortunately.

I think with element being on KOTR this year and with bam resurfacing with resissued decks that will boost alot of board sales this year......oh just realised you said 2017, nevermind.

FA/Hockey. our local shop gets three boxes full and they are all gone in less than a month. Any deluxe brand deck will not stay in stock. welcome, crail, creature all dead boards collecting dust

I would put money on Real and Enjoi selling big numbers. Primitive is probably a good guess, as well as Welcome

People saying FA/Quasi are lowkey delusional. Love those companies but you’re not thinking of the bugger unfortunate picture of whose carried by Zumiez, worldwide distributors, active, etc. and not to forget whose pushing direct to consumer.

Why everyone hates primitive? Is it not cool that skateboarder makes a company and take some friends with him and sell boards  ::)

Surprised no ones offered Baker as a choice.  They seem to toe the line btw core and the masses pretty well

Definitely a regional thing but anti hero and TKF do really well out here in Humboldt County CA. From what I've seen all over I'd guess Real or Welcome.

I remember getting Transworld Business ages ago and being surprised Creature was always in the top 5. I would bet they’re still up there. When you’re aware that you’re the green flaming skull company you gotta embrace it

FA or Polar judging by what I see day to day. Younger dudes seem pretty sparked on primitive and SK8 Mafia.

DLX spreads the wealth out over 3 "brands" but I think they are probably tops in sales and trying to be super low-key about it. As a whole they probably occupy 25% of my local shop's wall, not including their shop decks.

WELCOME. They opened Zumiez in 2017 and still ave boards in nearly every independent skate shop.

Creature seems really popular where I live. Probably the most common board I see. Easily in the top 5 at least. I find it very odd cuz I think their image is fucking terrible. They’ve got some great skaters though. 🤔

So what about that whole "subscription service" that Primitive is doing? Do those board sales count?

"best selling board" could be perceived in multiple ways, especially with the varying price points and regions and stuff like that.

I would bet that DLX does ok in Chicago but sucks as far as midwest sales (if there is such a thing), again, still waiting for a knight in shining armor with fact-based answers to descend from the rafters..
