[close]It may have been JWray who said this but in some interview it was alleged that Element gives all these older riders a board just so they can say XXXXX, XXXXX, and XXXXX used to ride for us. Older guy without a sponsor isn't going to say "No" to a small check for little to no work and Element gets props for having had these guys "on the team" (air quotes) for 3 months.

I bet those dudes sell a lot of boards in their regions, and it allows Element to do smaller batches of boards for them and keeps the cost benefit ratio of having these guys on the team making sense. If you put them on the same stage as Bam or Nyjah it suddenly wouldn't make much sense to keep Johan Swissman on the team because he's selling a comparatively low number of boards in a small area.
