I don't like the photo. I like the trick, but the photo doesn't seem to do it justice

Totally.  It's all arse and when it's difficult to see the wheels, it often makes a crap photo of a good trick.  Same deal with that cover of the fs crooks down El Toro, that photo was terrible.

I think the photo is fine. Bs smiths from the other side often look shit because the back truck isn't visible under the board. Fisheye was an obvious choice to make the gap out look a lot bigger than it really is. Shooting from the "ass side" also means you're on the side the rail deviates towards, which makes it look bigger and sort of leads your eye up to the trick.

Guarantee you'd go to this spot and be surprised that the "gap out" is a lot less insane than it looks here.

The gap out would look tinier fisheye from the top... You position yourself in front of the gap so it looks as big as possible.

I like the cover photo. Treating the HH 16 like a flat bar in the driveway is absurd.

I like the cover photo. Treating the HH 16 like a flat bar in the driveway is absurd.

Best use of “absurd” I’ve read in a while.
Iirc - maybe it was Reynolds’ “My War” clip, there was someone talking about (maybe Atiba) how “no-one goes to Skate the 16, you go there with a trick in mind” or words to that effect. While this remains true for the most part, it’s seemingly not true for Foy. When you’re that consistent on big rails I suppose it is just another rail. But still it blows my mind to see this famous spot just sessioned by someone.

Quick question- who did the first bs smith and fs nosegrind on HH?
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Also Reynolds did fs lip in The End.

What about 5-0 and hs 5050? They ever appear in parts?

Bs 5050 has been done for sure and I know I’ve seen a Fs 5-0 but can’t for the life of me work out who it was or what vid I saw it in.
I used to keep a little notebook when I was a kid filled with lists of famous spots and the tricks that had been done there - Wilshire, Hollywood High, El Toro, Love Park 4, MACBA 4. Oh how I wish I had kept that updated.

Bonus points for doing these in snowboard boots.
