Pants: let loose or cuffed up.
« on: March 12, 2018, 07:41:06 AM »
as of recently i've noticed that cuffed pants had become somewhat of a trend among trendy instagram skaters. and i wondered what the actual advantages of this were, so i experimented with both cuffing up my pants (3 folds) and letting them bunch up at the ankle. what i found was that cuffing gave me a sort of sense of freedom, kind of like not wearing underwear. but of course with the added dread of a gnarly ass shark bite. while the classic skaters way of wearing any pants that may be a little to long, just letting them bunch up, does provide the added security of having that tiny bit of fabric between your ankle and the board but does seem to lack that sense of free range the an exposed sock has on the mind. anyway what do you guys think? cuffed or uncuffed?

i cuff my pants since most of them are pretty baggy and they'd tear near the cuff otherwise, i think they look better that way too

I am not too into the multi-folded cuffed pants, but that's just me. I usually do one folded cuff or no cuff at all.

I always leave mine uncuffed, was never into the trendy look of cuffed although I do see the benefit of it since my pants do start to tear at the bottom, but thats why I buy dickies for cheap anyway since they end up getting torn up everywhere eventually.

Usually give it a couple of cuffs, I'm pretty short. They make a cropped version of the dickies I like now, so if they sit right I might not need to anymore

I cuff mine just so theyre in line with the top of my shoe. Usually 3 folds does it perfectly. Any higher and i can feel the air on my ankles and i dont dig it. But always cuff at least to the top of the shoe.

Cuffing is cool, as I like how you can really see your whole shoe. Recently I have been trimming the bottom(s) of my pants as it still makes them shorter and actually widens the bottom of the pants by a hair or so.

Usually I take my trousers to the tailor to have them fit just right.. No need for cuffing then. And this trend of cuffing pants is getting old. I have noticed that the trendiest skaters don't even do it anymore. Sure sign of that is all these pre cuffed  pants emerging.. If you want that hiwater look I'd just cut them to the right length with scissors..

I have a question.  Im sure some of you have seen those Supreme "skate pants".  The ones with the elastic band around the cuff.  Looks like an updated Limpies.  Anyway, I'm not paying Supreme prices nor do i really like patterns on my pants, so does anyone know where to get a plain, off-brand pair of these?

I have a few pair of ‘jogger’ pants from Old Navy that look and fit like baggy khakis. They have elastic at the waist and around the ankles and the fabric is petty thick. For $20 on sales I bought 3 pairs for skating. This was in the fall, so they may not have them anymore. I like to think of skate clothes as disposable.

A little extra material at the bottom will make you stick out these days.  That can be good.  I started with it again.  But when I wasn't I'd just hem them.  Cuffs are stupid and heavy.   Remember when gonz brought out the cuffs?, it was right when everyone was doing the scissor cut/no hem.

I'll cuff 1-2 times depending on my pants. But I'm also not that tall at all (5'7" on a good day) so 30 inseams still demand a cuff or 2.
