Just recently got hip to Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Those guys rock.

I'll add this. Pretty solid psych rock.

quite possibly my favorite country for rock and roll music, ever.  i'm just gonna post links to keep computers running fast:

70's Rock:
AC/DC - you shouldn't need a link
Buffalo -
Coloured Balls -
Rose Tattoo -

70's Punk:
Radio Birdman -
The Saints -

late 70's/80's punk/powerpop:
X -
The Scientists -
The Victims -
The Fun Things -
The Leftovers -
The Chosen Few -
Celibate Rifles -

80's/90's noise rock/experimental/post-punk
SPK -
Severed Heads -
The Birthday Party -
The Scientists -
Cosmic Psychos -
Kim Salmon and the Surrealists -
Fungus Brains -
God -

Australia has also birthed some of my favorite bands/records of the last few years...
Bloodclot Faggots -
UV Race -
Vaginors -
Gutter Gods -
Amyl and the Sniffers -

There's probably a hundred others I could post.

A classic.

Controversial choice, maybe, but this is a sick album.

Someone mentioned the new Portal in the Heavy Metal thread, and I have to agree, it’s pretty sick.

And of course, The Saints and The Birthday Party/Nick Cave.

I've been trying to find this indie alt australian band from the early 90s.   The whole band consisted of teenagers that were around 14 or 15.  I think a pre cherry Sean Pablo or Sage might have skated to one of their songs.  I only heard them once and it was great.

It wasn't noise addict? Early 90's band out of Manly I believe.

Love the airwalk reference in this song

Dick Diver rules
Terry
UV Race
Woolen Kits

The first show I ever played, we actually played with Total Control and UV Race. This was 2009. At the time, I wasn't sure what I was seeing but I really liked it. Saw Dickdiver twice and they were great.

embarrassed that I didn't mention either of these bands on my initial list.  clearly australia has too many great bands to choose from (and I didn't even touch new zealand, which is a thread in itself).

Feedtime:

Venom P. Stinger:

also since metal was mentioned above, there's a ton of great aussie black/death/thrash bands but Vomitor rules above all:

Jack Ladder has already been brought up.
Donny Benet is great and is the bassist for Jack Ladder and the Dreamlanders,
King Gizzard already appeared in here.
ORB is decent Sabbath-esque stuff. Some great songs.
Montero is excellent.
The Jim Mitchells are excellent, too.

Bluetile Lounge was a short-lived Perth band. Lowercase is one of the most evocative and beautiful albums I have ever heard.
Globes Opinion made me depressed for years.
