At least Es seems to be thriving now. I guess Soletech can only manage 2 footwear brands at any given time.

Vans = Thrasher hoodies of footwear

eS sponsors three people, not counting the revive team, with no pro models. Thriving?

most of the shoes they sell are probably because of the revive team and they sponsor only 3 pros, they have some ams on top of that. i too wouldn't say they are thriving though

Well, this makes sense with him not having a board sponsor and him having that clothing company. Vans probably pays more than Chocolate and Emerica combined.

More people who don’t skate wear Vans than Nike SB stuff. Old Schools/Skate Highs, Eras/Authentics, and to a lesser extent Slip Ons are straight up mall kid shoes at this point. It’s cute how the “core” double standard works. I wear them both regardless, so whatever.

They are the same...Both are corp. Both make good skate shoes. Both make most of their $$ off non-skate. Both pay skaters very well and both put $$ back into skating. Vans does a very good job of playing up the "core" vibe while being owned by Vanity fucking Fair. I'm convinced that a "skater owned" brand cannot survive in the shoe market. Shoes are not a true skate product and a company cannot compete on price and quality while only selling to skaters.

When E's burned to the ground there was a great fire sale on their stuff. I'll do the same for Emerica and a tear will roll down my cheek as I click "Buy".

wtf it's really only 3 people...

I hope Altamont isn't funneling resources away from the shoe brands because I've never seen anyone wear Altamont for at least 7 years.

This made my think of Kenny Hoyle.

Jerry on Vans is perverse.

I cannot speak to all Vans but the Kwalks skate very nice. I have some of the reissued full cabs that cover my high top needs. If you stick to the pro models(kwalks, chima, gil) you should be good.

interesting to see how his pro model, if given one, will differ from his past pro models since they looked like half cabs.

This is pretty much what it boils down to. I've seen him wearing New Balance grandpa shoes too and he didn't end up sponsored by them.

I guess vans will try to battle nikeadidas. Until that turns into another shitty thermonuclear poop reaction. Why don't they let me run and regulate the god damn skate industry.

His good friend and former team manager at Emerica Justin Reagan is in charge over at Vans.

The Kyle Walker is a very good skate shoe. I hear the Crockett 2s are as well.

Does it seem like the Janoski craze has fallen big time to anyone else? I rarely ever see them anymore, whether by skaters or non.

Agreed on Vans being the skate shoe of choice for non-skaters. Old Skools, Eras, slip ons, etc... are everywhere
