Yes, I will be wasted for many hours in front of TV.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

England got an easy group. I’ll be backing Peru because I have a lot of Peruvian friends. I always root for upsets and I never gave a shit about USA soccer. I’m pretty excited even though my days of 6 am drinking are sadly behind me. Who you got?

I usually back Germany, but this year I have a little in the tank for Egypt and their King MO SALAH.

Supporting the German team as usual. Let's see how they will do without Sane who got sent home.

Spain seems a lil bit disorientated.

Germany, Croatia and Colombia interest me most based on the last World Cup and the European championships. I’ll try not to watch all the games. Got an important choice to make today. Go skate or watch the first game. I really dunno which I’ll choose. My choice might have a big effect on how I spend the next month or so. :-\

Russia vs Saudi Arabia must be the most unappealing opening game in WC history. See you all in two hours!

I am rooting for the German team, but I don't think they will be able to win it again. They should have brought in a new coach. Winning the World Cup requires such a great effort and such determination. I don't think Jogi Löw will be able to create that with this team given the fact that he already won the cup 4 years ago. Spain kept their coach after winning the World Cup and the Euro Cup back to back and then got eliminated early. I am afraid the same will happen to the German team.

I don't know heaps about football but at a glance it's a weird mix of teams this year.

As an Australian, I'm stoked to see how we go.

I usually barrack for Netherlands but as they haven't made it (WTF) I'll probably back Germany or Spain.

Also, wonder how much cash the Saudis took from Putin to tank that bad? Maybe some new jets or concessions in Syria were on offer?

Mexico!!!!  #noerapenal

But in reality I highly doubt it, it be sick to see them win one before I die but Ive been heartbroken too many times. First match is with Germany which even I think Germany is the stronger team, should be good regardless.

I was reluctant to get up at 4.00am to watch Spain vs Portugal but am so glad I made the effort. What a game! Probably the most exciting draw I've ever seen.

My Portuguese neighbors might burn down my neighborhood if they win the whole thing. Found a bunch of fireworks on my roof after the Super Bowl win. I still can’t believe Italy didn’t make it.

Big surprise: I'm backing France!! (where I grew up)
but also Colombia (my roots)
Countries I want to fail: Germany (because Schumacher/Battiston is my first ever memory of football) and Belgium (cause all the Belgians I know want France to fail so I reciprocate haha   ;D)

and yes Spain Portugal was awesome yesterday...Ronaldo seems to have matured finally. Less ego, more team spirit.

Allright I'm about to tune in to the France Australia game. My eldest son is a huge Griezmann fan so I hope he scores!

don't wanna make this thread about videoref straight away but do we seriously need one more guy to make an already doubtful decision? i don't think i've seen a game go under 95 minutes which is weird. videoref is weird. i used to be a huge supporter but between these first couple matches and some recent epl offside struggles i don't know if i'm such a fan anymore.

Spain y Portugal was fantastic. Those fans got their money’s worth.

I thought Messi was gonna sink that penalty kick à la Ronaldo, man..
