SLAP Brands to Boycott
« on: May 17, 2018, 10:36:02 AM »
In recent light of everything going on right now where do you stand on brands not to support?
They don't even have to be skate oriented. Here's my list of company's that won't get a red cent from me.

Walmart
Santa Cruz
Indy trucks
Oj
Plan B
Starbucks
Cracker Barrel
Chick Fil a
Exxon

if you want to start being really pedantic over it I guess you'd be boycotting everything under NHS so also creature, krux, ricta, bronson and mob. if were just going off the jason jessee thread i presume be spitfire and everything under DLX also.

Shit I forgot Nike and cons. And for Plan B if you look at my list most non skate companies are anti gay and I get that vibe from the top of that company.

Can we please say why the boycott should be in place, otherwise this is just going to turn in to a "brands I don't like" thread.

Did I miss something? Why to any of these, especially the highlighted ones?

*EDIT*

Okay, I can see why we would boycott Hook-Ups actually, I forgot how weirdly and blatantly misogynistic/homophobic that Jeremy Klein/his graphics are.

This thread is pointless unless you are all going to list reasons for each brand and maybe something to back that statement up as well. Anyhow, interesting times for me as a buyer for a shop that does large orders with DLX, NHS, and pretty much most brands listed above every month.....

DGK - Great team, especially some of the newer kids, problematic marketing that perpetuates awful stereotypes
Huf - Controlled by suits in a boardroom, still marketing weed socks to degenerate kids. Also a recipe for plantar fasciitis with those shoes.
Creature - I’m not with the Satanic stuff
Welcome - Urban Outfitters
Toy Machine - Have you followed Ed Templeton on Insta?
Hook Ups
I-Path if they were still around - Timberland and foot problems later in life.
Satori - They care more about making yoga pants.

Also, don’t deny that you wouldn’t turn right around and walk out the door if you set foot in a shop that only had those brands in stock.

NHS as a whole since they house many of Jason Jesses sponsors and openly back him despite everything going on right now. I’m mad I just recently got a deck with MOB grip but it’ll be the last time that distro EVER gets a cent from me.

Regarding Spitfire/DLX, what’s the controversy surrounding them? I have enough spare gear that I can switch up my hard goods if need be, but I’ll be bummed if I gotta drop Real, Thunder, & Venture for aligning themselves with suspect shit. Would defintely like some clarification on that

Maybe I was naive to think that the skate industry would be somewhat immune to some of BS that plagues everything else in life, but it sucks see that curtain get pulled and realize how fucked these brands and the people behind them are. If I gotta rock that Theeve/eS/Crupie/Maxallure setup I’ll do it though.

Dlx has mocked my religious beliefs countless times, but I also don’t expect everyone else to share the same reverence. I can also admire the abilities of people who don’t necessarily agree with me on things.

Agree to disagree, it makes the world go round.

I really want to know what Jim T thinks about this.  Everything is so incestual between Indy/ermico/DLX/high speed.  Where are the lines drawn? Should we boycott slap and deny high speed the ad dollars?

Ha, they once posted something on Insta saying that Kyle Nicholson was their favorite skater, then proceeded to delete the post after I commented “but you didn’t put him on though...”

thrasher - because they are always promoting the sketchiest stuff and schmitty has been active on deleting stuff on this forum. thrasher and indy are the same.

dlx - because of the grip they have on the industry as a whole and how they handle situations like andy roy and tony t among others. the enforcer rumors are insane too.

Im sure these brands will suffer when the huge mass of SLAP consumers that regularly purchase Plan B, Rip n Dip, and Santa Cruz suddenly stop.
