These definitely deserve a thread too. Tips? Thoughts? Who does them best?

I always liked weiger van whatshislastnames. My tip is don’t do them like me. Mine always fall out to fakie. I’ve only come out to reg a handful of times. One day..

Probably my favorite ledge trick to do, the trick is to just turn your head and it works out. Best in the game imo are Torey's, Bledsoe, and Tiago ssbsts. And I don't know how people go to fakie on it, that one was always awkward to me,

Best feeling ever. Doing them on a long distance is not the same story though.
Possibilities are everywhere, search and enjoy.

i always enjoyed justin strubing's
backside tailslides. they're some
how special.  he goes fast, ollies
powerfully into one, he slides far
and fast. for me backtails are on
and off. i can do them best with
a fresh deck that has grip / pop.

Yes. I've been working on nollie BTs to get comfortable with the slide but it's usually stick or slip.

One of the best feeling tricks for sure!

Carroll has a very good one but so does JB Gillet. He did this one at my local park a few winters ago, it was incredible.

Fuck, JB's are so ill, even the ones he misses are better than most people's! 0:47

Are they acceptable nollie?
Have been having fun with regular ones lately but attempted a nollie bsts last night and did one ft and I was stoked! Trick feels pretty good too. I was trying to do them to fakie and I did like a nollie bs 180 fakie 5-0 jerry hsu style and it scared the shit out of me and I stopped trying.

Yeah i just learned this one a year ago on ledges and its so hard not to slip out to fakie. The couple of times i have been able to come out to regs i roll away like the wacky inflatable balloon man. Great trick doe

I am completely blown away that anyone finds this true.  Back tails on anything higher than a curb are hard.

The trick for me was to back 180 farther than you think you have too.  It is a bit easier to come out to fakie and I would recommend starting with that.  The trick to coming out regular is the same upper body/shoulder position as you would have in a front board.  Shoulders and arms parallel with the ledge/flatbar or whatever during the slide.  Best trick ever!

I like watching Josh Kalis' ones cause theyre relatable. He said in an interview he cant slide them and neither can I.
If he says if he needs to back tail anything long hell just gap out to slide the end

Ethan fowler has the best backtails*, tincan folklore has a line with a great one and thats life has a bunch of gooduns..

(*Or maybe MC )

I recently got them pretty good but the first attempt of the session always seems terrifying and like its my first time trying them. Just make the right body shapes (basically that MC picture someone posted) and they seem to work out

Once I realized I had to have my back foot already in the pocket when I popped I stopped sticking and started sliding and slipping out, eventually figuring em out, kind of. It's just kind of weird to pop with your foot more on the board like that instead of on the tip.

dude i suck at back tails  :'( i gotta practice some tonight.

how do ya'll approach? parallel or at an angle? i can't lock in if i i'm parallel to the ledge i need to be on some gnarly angle and pop a really hard back 180 it feels so unnatural
Let me preface this post with the fact that I am slightly inebriated, very uneducated and I havent read any papers or done any research at all, or read your post really.

I learned them thirteen years ago and lost them and it's the biggest regret about skating that I have. It really is an amazing feeling to land one. I tried relearning them a few years ago and slid out on a few attempts but this year's the year to get them back. Tyler Bledsoe currently holds the crown of the greatest contemporary b/s tailslide.
