Why do all skate videos look the same

Why do all skate videos look the same
Because there's too much shit floating around for most people to even appreciate the quality in what they watch anymore. But in reality it's up to the individual to choose between just consuming or tasting, and understanding what it is that they like to see in skate videos exactly enough to be able to leave the beaten path looking for just that. It's just as crucial to have access to alternatives as it is to stay away from enduring all the shit that comes out - gotta pick your own highs and stay sophisticated despite the surrounding mediocrity.

I feel like we've all seen this edit 100 times before.

I feel like we've all seen this edit 100 times before.
Then you're plain wrong as it just came out and consists of original footage of mostly skaters I've never seen before. You might just be jaded of skate videos yourself or have an untrained eye (the two patterns I see the most in general), and you're not in position to speak for other people to begin with anyway - with all due respect.
If you can't appreciate this for what it is without bringing up comparisons then I don't know what to say, that kind of speaks volumes already, but I don't think it's just your fault.

in all seriousness japan and reggae blend so well.

Sick edit. Made me feel relaxed.

Love this guys lines. Street skating in Japan must be great, smooth spots, clean streets and minimal risk of landing on a hypodermic needle.

I can appreciate the skating for what it is, I always do, but it really is just another VX edit, filmed predominately at night, approx. 4 mins in length, to sit in the trawls of the internet. We've seen it all before.

So even though that description of yours is already established in the thread title, you still watch it looking at the form and not at the substance? I don't mean to come off as an ass - I'm genuinely interested in understanding this type of behavior. You're essentially blaming a skate video for being a skate video, which I think is funny, hence my innocent suggestion that you might be jaded (something that by nature tends to hit a person before they even realize it).

That was a great edit. I think I get more spot envy from Japan footage than anywhere else.

Loved this one. Smooth skating and good music. Funny to hear people complain about vx edits like this. It's my favorite genre of skate video but I get why it isn't for everyone I guess. The little cliches like leaving in the hand over the lens and even the glitches get me psyched. This kind of thing is a rad time capsule of times skating with friends and if a few like-minded, nerdy strangers enjoy it that's a bonus. If you're tired of seeing this stuff and want to be wowed by some big stunts there's always "sloshin' through the northwest" over on the thrasher site.
Got kinda burnt on Japanese videos after all the Lenz-style ones kinda started blurring together but this was a good reminder to revisit some old favorites I haven't watched in a while

There's this new one out that's pretty sick (also with one particularly strong nollie hardflip/nollie pop shove offender):

nothing new, but I doubt that was the intention. Relatively easy skating with aggressive/ jerky filming style captured at night on a hastily setup vx, it's definitely well within the comfort zone of a japanese skate video. I think they're having fun and you cant hate them for that!

Bump, the guys have been uploading edit after edit for the past few weeks and they're all fantastic or so I find. The last one "MONO WEST TOKYO #7" is a personal favorite, with some S.F. in the mix:

They also started an IG account and whatnot. More links & info: https://liveskateboardmedia.com/en/article/and-now-my-teardrops-start

These are all sick. Love the heelflip and nollie back tail appreciation with these guys. The random pier 7 clip in the last one caught me off guard
