Jake Hayes has one of the most explosive kickflips of all time. Ellington still one of the best sw frontside flips. Will rewatch.

Got damn, Foy's the truth. All I needed to see was that El Toro feeble and "SOTY" came to mind. Between this, killing it on KOTR, and probably a bunch of other gnarly footage I'm forgetting, are there any contenders on the same level?
What the other dude said about Hayes being Mike White-esque I saw too. It's like he's floating--pretty rad. Does it look like he's really sad/anxiety-riddled when he rolls up to tricks?
Glad to see Slash finally embracing baldness. I legit think it's a good look. At the very least, way better than denying it under a perma-beanie. Certainly better than another Cherry clone or Instagram-vomit-camo pants, any day.

I can't think of the last person to win it the year they turned pro. I know it hasn't happened since it got turned into a really big deal with people dropping footage at the end of the year with the intent of trying to win it. I thought Suciu had a serious case in 2012, but he was overlooked for Daveed, Guy and Figgy.

Yeah, it seems they waited for Propeller to drop before giving him the bump. Kyle Walkers run of footage at that point was insane. I don't think Ishod and Grant had been pro very long before winning.
The ones I wonder about are Arto and TNT. I think TNT turned pro in 2000. As for Arto, I'm not sure he got the bump until Menikmati dropper and he won in 2001.

I get that Atiba's trying to show "Hey it's El Toro" with that angle, and even though there are only a couple other angles to shoot from...my only guess is that since it was a first try front crook thats where Atiba was at the moment. It would've look good from up top at least. Gnarly shit though.

Let's keep in mind Atiba had 1 shot at the photo since the trick was first try. Sure, he could have chosen a better angle, but it is hard to know how tricks will look unless the skater is actually trying the trick.

I agree that a cooler shot would have been from above the stairs, but I think there's two issues at play - shane cross is facing out on that trick which makes it infinitely easier to shoot at a spot like el toro and that the best way to shoot el toro is landscape style if you have to shoot the someone skating the way foy is here. The best photograph at el toro was Mumford's smith which got an angle from the side, similar to the Tosh feeble angle, but these are rarely used for covers. I bet he was going to shoot the fs feeble for the cover and set up for that and the fs crooks happened afterwards unexpectedly. if it wasn't going to be a cover, you shoot that from the side

wade did one switch on a small rail 10 years ago. maybe 7 of 8 but it's still mind blowing. Jamie's ks fs feeble could have used 4 more angles. so awesome!
