I see some g053 pop secrets on sale. Has anyone ever tried one? Are they like VX decks basically? I don't break decks, but they're actually cheaper than the standard ones. So I figure, why not grab 'em?

Skating a G069 right now.  From what I recall they are individually pressed, so the shape/concave/feel should be exactly the same every time.  I like that thought.  Also the snap is great.  My friend skated his forever and only stopped because of eventual razor tail and weird chipping on the bottom.  Those are the pros.  Cons would be the weight.  They are tanks.  If you flip your board a lot, be prepared for that.  If you just cruise skating tranny and shit you probably won't notice it.  He recently switched back to a normal board after retiring his and he was like "that board was like a resistance trainer, shit flips so easy now" haha.  Overall I'm not unhappy with it, but I also don't flip my board a ton these days.  The ankle could definitely feel the weight when I signed on for a game of skate the other day though  :D

Thanks! I only cruise and do no-complies. But I'm 247 lbs so I'll take all the support I can get :)

Skating a G033. Haven't skated a Girl board in about 20 years. Mostly been on a mixed bag including Quasi popsicles and some BL and Heroin bigger boards.

I have to say that I'm very much liking the flatter concave and more mellow kicks. I bought this mostly for nostalgia and because I liked the look of the shape, but I am pleasantly surprised at how easy this board is to skate. I'm running Indy 149s and its so much fun. I guess I got used to steeper boards, but everything feels easier and more controlled on this board.

Anyone else like the G033?

i haven’t tried that shape.
i like crail boards: the shape guide, the flat concave, and their dimensions are highlights.
i found the nose and tail to be fairly steep on the ones i rode/(ride).

I wish every company had a shape guide like that. The G033 I have is around 19/20 degrees for tail and nose, respectively. Most of the BBS boards I was skating were somewhere between 22-24 degrees. Plus BBS boards have that dip before the kicks go up which might make them feel steeper. I dig that the Crail boards are flatter in that area.

Shape guides should be an industry standard. I hate when brands randomly use different shapes and wood shops (Alien Workshop, Toy Machine, etc). You never know what you’re getting.

Their shape guide is the best part about shopping for Crail products.

Got both a G069 and G096 and the kicks on the G069 look noticable fuller and rounder, similar to a the popular full nose deck (Quasi comes to mind), looking more nose than tail.

The G096 has a sharper angle towards the nose and looks more tail than nose, that's stopping me from immediately setting that up.

Has anyone skated both the G027 and the G052 and preferred the G027?  A friend recently gifted me a slightly used G027 and it skates fine, but something about knowing that the nose is slightly shorter than the tail bothers me and I can't "unsee" it when looking down at the board.  Crail shapes in general can be puzzling in terms of dimensions; is there something magical about the G027 that I am not comprehending?

I have and prefer G027. G052 feels too long to me whereas the G027 feels very nimble.

is the G027 the one that tapers a bit? more like 8.125 in the back?
i was thinking about trying one with 5.2L ventures.

Yes that's the one! Maybe even 8 at the back truck front truck is like 8.23 or something. Always seems to me like if you were skating any other board backwards.

My preferred "norm sized board", the rest are 7.75....
I like it on thunder 147 but I think 5.2 low will be beautiful as well.

A while back I got the 2 decks and wheels deal they had going. I got a 052 and an 027. I skated them back to back. I really could not tell a difference in any of my skating. I like the 8 1/4 with the shorter wheelbase. So I just ordered which ever was in stock on tactics. So I've gone through a handful of them. Again, really can't tell a difference.
We rode 7.5's" and didn't complain.

Skating the G096. First crail board in a decade plus. This board is built really well. Long lasting pop, durable. Will buy a Crail again, no questions asked.
flat spotted 3 times in 2 weeks, other than that awesome wheels

So I noticed one of Malto's new decks is listed as G089 at Skate Warehouse. Not seeing it on Crail's shape guide yet though. Is this a new shape?

Few months back (I've posted it here on think) crail had a story showing a new shape or proto stamped on his board.

I wonder if the tails on this one are like the G027 tail since it is actually around 8" on the G027 tail with the taper.  The 069 was more like the nose I feel.

I want more infos about that shape. Gotta ask crail on IG  Because I really like the sound of 8.25 × 31.875 and 14 wb too. Hoping for 6.625" tail and 7" nose

Yeah there is the G052 shape but it tapers to like 8" around the tail which made me really nervous with every trick that involved a shuv. You know sometimes when you land a varial heel with one foot in the middle of the deck and one foot on the nose. Those were some scary times. And the tail was like 6.8" which felt huge to me. Just my madness, others love the G052 shape.

Yeah the long tail and taper on the G052 are deal breakers for me. My ideal Crail board would be 8.25 w/ 14.25 wheelbase, 6.5 tail, 6 7/8 nose. Basically a G008 that's 8.25 wide but has the same overall shape would be perfect. Seems like so many 8.25's I've seen have super long tails or some weird taper to them.

I have a few setups currently with one being a G033 and I love it. I completely agree with it being “easy to skate” compared to a lot of other boards I’ve ridden. Everything just works great and feels so natural. Definitely picking up another once this one is done and it’ll probably be my primary choice of deck going forward.

Maybe no taper towards the tail? Same width across the whole deck? Hidden nanotubes for better wheelies?

Pop Secret question: can i balance out the extra weight with say, tensor mag trucks?

From experience, yes. It still feels different than a standard setup, but it didn't take long for me to adjust. I skated a couple G028 pop secret decks awhile back and actually felt the tensor mags were a little too light. I ended up really liking those with thunder titaniums. I think what threw me off the most was how stiff and inflexible the pop secret decks felt as opposed to the extra weight.
