The skateboarding subreddit is so lame, it's nothing but teenagers and 45 year olds that skated for a month in 1992 making rodney mullen references. It's also kind of odd as discussion is completely banned, you're only allowed to post videos and photos of yourself for people to jerk you off over. Like who made that decision, just go on instagram for that. I actually made a discussion focused subreddit in the hope of getting some skate related content on there that wasn't completely cringe but I gave up 5 minutes after creating it and it's still sitting there with 0 posts or followers.
Other than that ukskateforum.co.uk is good for the brits even though everyone on there is about 65

Eh it’s not really worthy of a full “circlejerk” thread. Things on Reddit worth making fun of probably have such thread on Reddit already. Ex. r/guitarcirclejerk is amazing

Eh it’s not really worthy of a full “circlejerk” thread. Things on Reddit worth making fun of probably have such thread on Reddit already. Ex. r/guitarcirclejerk is amazing
r/skateboardcirclejerk already exists, it's actually quite funny at times compared to some of the meme insta accounts

Music and production forums. Was a big Shroomery user years ago aswell as other drug/psychedelics/plant forums. I lurk on ukskateforum every now and then but it's mostly older guys that have one session a month or not at all.

Decent at best, but at its worst it's one of the nastiest places on the internet. Some real deep sea creatures with glowing appendages and translucent skin using that forum. I'm like James Cameron in his sub, i go there to gawk at the freaks and monsters

beachgrit is weird to me, everything is written in this half sarcastic tone it seems. feels like the contributors never really want to take a particular stand so it ends up feeling bull shitty.
reddit skateboarding is indeed pretty lame, but its like the rest of reddit: get circle jerking to whatever the topic at hand is, or gtfo. the fact that discussion is banned makes no sense for sure.
i liked middleageshred, never posted but its the kind of place where you could nerd out over the merits of different knee pads. its dead though.
really the internet is mostly dead to me, i don't like social media, there are probably decent blogs out there still but have no idea how to find them. youtube is aight when it isn't trying to feed me weird covid19 denial or various right wing lunacy.

It's a bunch of has-beens that show off their whack setup with wimpy line's and kooky circus trick's, who the fuck cares?! Or it's a hey should I get this one with this product too?!

Never look at skate shit on reddit but browse through Home and Popular on a daily basis for general news and the wide range of other interesting/entertaining shit. It’s also been super helpful when trying to learn about other random topics I get into.. music, surfing, stocks, brewing, whatever. Don’t get the hate on it. If I want to read a Slap-like forum I go on Slap.

I mainly go on ukskateforum other than here, although I miss Sidewalk forums in their hey day as that was like a British slap.

Reddit is a good site for obscure hobbies and craftsmanship, for example I got into making homemade pizzas because of Reddit. Everything else is too bloated and hard to follow.

reddit's ok except for /r/all, /r/popular, or negative subs of that nature. the only comments and posts that get upvoted are "usa bad", "capitalism bad", "rich people bad", etc. In reality it's just a bunch of unqualified people who love complaining or just straight up anarchists. for all we know, it could be fucking bots or malicious campaigns posting that shit.
also it's like literally the equivalent to staring at the tabloid section at a supermarket except that now everyone in the damn store is sharing their opinion of it right in ur ear.

honestly, the internet as whole has started to become fucking exhausting to me. i had to declutter. Previously it was like i was sticking my head in a washing machine with social media, internet trends, and the latest outrageous news.

We should all appreciate the free speech allowed on Slap. I recently joined a rock climbing forum and they moderate it so heavily that any joke that someone doesn't like results in your post being removed, or even worse banned without any sort of warning.
The same thing happened to me with Reddit on r/mma. The other night the first few fights were ending because of problems/injuries to people's legs. So everyone in the thread was joking about it. I joked that the main event was off because the guy slipped on a banana peel and twisted his ankle. I was immediately banned for life from commenting on that sub. The moderator said that I was banned because "literally nobody laughed" at my joke.
So yeah, I hope Slap never gets to that point because it's frustrating when you have to walk on egg shells not knowing what will get you banned.

agree with the bolded, i've been feeling that way since the early 10's/dawn of the iphone era. i remember seeing high school acquaintances passing dubstep songs back and forth, i was like yea this is not relevant at all, facebook had to go. im honestly disappointed in my generation for getting so wrapped up with something as vapid and whack as instagram. now a days social media is the de facto way to socialize/communicate, feels weird sitting out of it but i don't want to cave.
i don't always agree with reddit's politics cause its oversimplified, but republicans deserve to get dunked on 24/7. rich people often do suck, not always though. i mostly find there's too much bull shit on there (bitcoin and gamestock BS, muh gun rights free kyle, cosplay - who decided hot girls needed more attention, from lonely nerds of all people), and its too big of a tent for any real discussion.
if it wasn't for slap the internet would be pretty much dead to me, other than as a utility.

I got off reddit and social media about three years ago and i don't regret it at all. Social media is all a wasteland and mostly used to market junk knick knacks or right wing garbage to you. Reddit is just a circle jerk of hack jokes about current events and horny freaks

there's like good niche communities similar to slap but for random shit; you can find pretty good answers/advice and just general discussion. once the subs start to skew over to the larger side tho, it's a cesspool.
