Can anyone tell me how I can make my photo files smaller ? I recently started getting a bit into photography and would like to post some photos here but they're all too big and I don't really know any technical computer things yet.

Just put them on a hosting website like Photobucket or flickr and resize it

I recently came back from a two week trip through Morocco and shot a ton of photos. As I don't want to spam the boards and it became impossible to link to f lickr I couldn't post any, so if anybody is interested check fli ckr.com/daydreamerhq

Really sick stuff.

And is that spot with the orange banks usually filled with water or something? It seems like such a fun spot, and that pivot is pretty mean.

God I need to stop slacking and get my stuff to the lab. I haven't uploaded anything in months.

I would get a Canon T1i instead of the D3000/5000. It has a slight better ISO then the Nikon entry level ones.

I shoot with a D90 and it is pretty good but might be out of your price range. Really nicely built camera and with the right lens, shoots great photos.

after watching "everything is illuminated" I thought it's time to share some of my pictures from ukraine. looking back I made some horrible decision about the films and I didn't invest enough money on a proper lab.

I've been getting back into taking photos lately. I've got a pretty old camera though and need to upgrade badly. I seem to have the most fun in old car junkyards. I don't know but there is something pleasing about finding forgotten cars in various states of disrepair. I like to fix them up also. Here is a shot of a 1976 Oldsmobile Regency 98. This is the same make and model that was used in Video Days. I might pick this car up and work on it to get it back on the road. It's been sitting in this same spot since 1998. It's only 500 bucks. eh...maybe?

This will seem like a dumb question, but here we go...Does anybody know how the Nikon DSLR cameras are categorized? I've been using a d70 for a while, and would really like to upgrade, but cant figure out what the hell would be the logical step up (either a D90 or something that shoots CMOS or a bigger sensor?) All their numbers make no sense, so I'm having trouble deciding. I ideally want to have a few more megapixels (6 isnt cutting it anymore for prints) and possibly a camera with a better sensor. Any suggestions?

Yeah....the Nikon number system is off. I mean they went from a d40/d60 to a d5000. So ignore that but also you want to keep in mind that pixels don't necessarily mean anything unless you are shooting for movie size poster. You want a good censor and a good ISO system. The I have a D90 and that will be a good upgrade from what you have but I was told that the d5000 has the same sensor, so if you are on a budget, you might want to consider that.

In the long run, it is all about the lenses. The body is important but can be marginally small from one body to the next. My opinion would be to get a D90 body and another lens aside from the kit lens. You can get the 35mm G1.8 but it is a prime lens and might be a little different to shoot if you are used to a zoom one. Also keep in mind that they are supposed to announce some new cameras in a couple of months, so the D90 might go down in price since the rumor is that there will be a upgrade to that one (d100?).

I finally got another roll back today and the scans the lab did were seriously the noisiest things I've ever fucking seen, not happy, now I gotta go bitch at them. How the fuck is this even remotely acceptable?

Ridiculous. But on a more positive note I found a link to this dude's f lickr and he's got a lot of incredible stuff that he shot in Iraq

That one has a pretty sick write up with it, but I highly suggest people check out this set too
