I think a big part of me was just blissfully ignorant to the last few years. Sure you always see comments on social media where they totally troll SB, but I never thought about the reasons why much. Kinda like I already had an acceptable answer in my head as to the why, so no need to dig further.

I will happily take the L for being totally clueless about the hypebeast ownership, and I'm glad this all unfolded and I got this perspective of the business.

After watching this YT odyssey, I have some minor points/questions:
- the Hyphenate is still a bit sketch on 'receipts' and although the screengrabs in the burner account video are somewhat damning, it could've also have been the GM, the one he hypes so much.
- SB is giving some serious social media Goebbels vibes, the recent spam on instagram, the plugs etc etc, he's visibly trying to bury the Hyphenate news
- how many other BATB's have been tainted by SB?
- is courtroom drama even possible for this case, again having not been shown the 'receipts' it's hard to guage how much of a precedent this has from the Hyphenate's perspective. I'm guessing Hypebeast have grounds to sue SB, but question is have/will they?

I think you're on to something here. When Joel Petersen was the GM at the berries—he's a childhood friend of borra's who quit abruptly in 2016 after one of those mega 40+ person staff meetings but it's just a skeleton crew working there now—he got into an absurd confrontation with Chris Mendes. Mendes had shown up out of the blue during an employee after-hours skate sesh and refused to leave, even after the GM asked him to. Mendes pulled out his phone and recorded Joel patiently asking him to respect the staff's sesh and leave, but Chris wouldn't, and eventually a bunch of us had to encourage Chris to gtfo. Needless to say, that fool was banned with extreme prejudice. Borra brought him up at many staff meetings after that, basically pointing out how socially awkward the guy is. To me, this comment, and lots of other comments this account makes, kinda sound like Borra ranting during a staff meeting (but it could easily just be someone who really backed him hard and then gave up sometime around 2015, realizing that Borra just leaves sycophants hanging):
