This is very interesting. I'm glad you posted that thank you, I love this shit. Looking further into it it says it also references the figure in Francisco Goya's The Third Of May 1808 and Goya is one of my favourite artists, so that was cool to learn too.

Have you ever looked into the Human Interference Task Force? Basically a group of scholars from different backgrounds with suggestions on how we could properly communicate the danger of a nuclear waste site to far future generations who at that point may not recognize the same language and symbolism that we use today. Fascinating stuff.

I truly love Spanky as a skater, and his fall from grace and resurgence as a pro is awesome and inspiring, but his art does nothing for me. Same respect to Lottie, seems to be a very good dude but his art just isn't for me. I guess Necklace is the same regard but I never liked that guy or his art, seems like a total culture vulture.

Never been a big fan of the baker graphics, but I've been a fan of the brand since b3 dropped when i was the perfect age for it. Spankys graphics are hit and miss.

Brands evolve I get it, the worst offender of this is Birdhouse. I love them with all my heart, but their deck art is all over the place with no identity or cohesive direction. One drop it's classic style cartoony, next it's some primitive space rock cover, then a random Lizzie board with a apple tree or something. Truly a fall from grace when you see what they used to put out to now. Sean Cliver, Jeremy Klein and J Strickland really had a stronghold on graphics.

Other than some early Baker boards (All Jay Strickland & the Knox drawings) their graphics haven't been great. Remember when they rebranded in the lead up to Baker 3 and changed the logo to the one with the 'splatter'?

Also I think we might see a distinct change in Deathwish graphics now since Mike Gigliotti is now the brand manager for some reason.

But yeah Deathwish could use an artist with their own voice.
I like Spanky's art and Mike Gigliotti's too (that Casper board <3) but I think they should also keep hiring more artists like Neckface and Barry McGee.
