Just reading this makes me want to try this Krooked 9.81” shaped deck. I already have the ACE AF1 66’s (9” width, those are the ones you’re using, right?) and use them without risers and Spitfire F4 55mm Classics. Sounds like a fun set-up (my main deck is the Real/Krooked 8.3” Twin Tail Slick)
Yup, I'm on the AF1 66's.
I'd say go for it, it's a
really functional shape. I'm on the shorter side (5'6" with around a 26-26" inseam) and have found that boards around 32" long with a 14.25-14.375" wheelbase "fit" me the best. I've been skating larger boards for years with varying widths/lengths/wheelbases and never went for this shape because I've had an OCD thing about being able to look down at the board rails and see axle nuts, but when I skated my friend's setup I fell in love with the shape and I'm now 2 months in on this shape and like it so much I could give two fucks about not seeing my front wheels. I have not felt this consistent on a board in years and I started getting back tricks I thought I had lost for good as well as learning a bunch of new stuff within the first few days on it. I tailblock a lot and the tail shape is great for that and the board gets wide enough in the front that even with the partial numbness I have in my legs and feet I don't really ever feel like I'm "losing" the board mid-trick. I also feel like the length/wheelbase keeps it feeling pretty responsive for a board this big, especially when paired with the AF1's. I haven't skated an actual vert ramp with it yet, but I can say it works universally well for me for the stuff I normally skate and that's a first for me. Over the past few years, I've had setups that feel great in my driveway (2.5' quarter) but absolutely awful when I skate anything over 6' on them (or vice versa) and honestly this has been comfortable on everything I've skated on it thus far. I'll be crushed if they ever go extinct because I have not
ever been this content with a setup lol
