I used to watch a lot of the giants games in junior and you can see exactly what will happen.....1) visors mandatory/grandfather 2) penalty for helmet coming off in a fight.....

Suddenly you have two guys punching each other in the visor......

How many fights are there in games that matter?  It'll somewhat be around but not part of the game the way it use to....hitting...they'll start looking at....'did you ever think you were going to get the puck?'  Hitting came about due to incidental contact....it was refined and perfected...

As much as they hit like that in the 90's.....they didn't in the 70's....or even before that.....it's way more open now....dudes are way bigger and faster....sooner or later the league will do something....they did something about the clutching and grabbing....bench clearing brawls and scrums..this will happen....

That's not true at all. It's a speed game now with little guys flying around wrecklessly. Take Nugent Hopkins for example.. It's dangerous because of the big hitters like Orpik. Stevens would be in prison if he played in todays NHL

Fighting is necessary though, you can't tell 2 grown men not to punch each other silly on ice skates.. It's a spectacle and the crowd loves it. Fights rarely happen in the playoffs you can't have a goon taking roster spots.

I miss when goons had a spot on the roster.

They are slowly being phased out of the game

Your right though tracer, no room for a goon type in the playoffs

There will still be some fights though, and i will watch and enjoy.

And fuck pittsburgh is up 2-1 now

Yeah but they're out Letang for a game and Maata for longer. Maata was kind of playing like garbage, not saying I'm glad he got hit, but he was kind of a liability the game before the hit, sooooooo....

I'd be very surprised if the Pens could squeak out a win without Letang, though, especially the way the Caps lit Murray up in the 3rd period. No way they're coming in quietly next game.

i'm an islanders fan so i'm biased, but the refs kinda blew it last night in game 4. At one point there were two pucks on the ice at the same time.

and barclays is a shitty place to play/watch hockey, at least compared to the coliseum.

Sad to see when NHL players are ignoring the opportunity to represent their country. Was way better during the USSR. Can I even say that?

Think blues and pitts will pull through....but hope sharks and lightning do.....

They don't call penalties so the blues will play their game and grind em.....Pitts goaltending will be the difference even if fleury is in....

The east is mathematically better than the west because there's 2 more teams

San Jose are known choke artists, when it's all said and done I'll be laughing. I don't give them much of a chance in game 4

I've picked the Sharks so many times......

The way St.Louis handled Dallas....I think they might find a way to choke out the Sharks....

And yet, the Blues sure made Jones and Reimer look like shit last night. Elliot hasn't been as good as Tracer thinks, but it's hard to count them out.  Also, terrible decision by Sullivan to put in Fleury over Murray, especially since Fleury up until tonight hadn't played a full game in nearly 3 months.

Did Carolina go back to Gerber after he shit the bed against Montreal in the first two games back in the 2006 playoffs? Fuck no they didn't and the rest is history for them.

Tampa doesn't have their 1 goalie in either. Making Crosby and Malkin look like AHLers! When people think Tampa they think Stamkos.. They got so much more. Drouin Johnson and Kucherov are unreal, the atmosphere in Pitts was great tonight but rightfully snuffed out by the better team. Nothing like NHL playoffs in all of sports, only took 53 seconds to clear the building in OT

I know he had to go for the sake of the rebuild, but I'll always miss Kessel as a Leaf.
