I enjoyed seeing the skating, but yeah some of it felt kinda gross....it shouldn't be a big party if it's being run by a bunch of middle aged dudes.....I watch copenhagen and I don't really like it's pretty sloppy... but not like this...

Fuck, can someone teach these skaters how to do a lip trick. The winning run he stepped off his board at every opportunity.

Can't tell by the Ginwoo fit, but insane style. Best trick of year. Should launch a whole slew of new variations in leui of simply dropping in.

Is it just me or do contest skaters do a disproportionate amount of heelflip variations……

I dont think it's just you but I do think people see it that way. The guy that won basically kickflipped into every trick. I think because they're generally less common when a few heelflips are seen closer together than normal it sticks out more

its kind of true
i think if you live in a very cool guy area like NYC or LA, you have to have a very standout heelflip like Sage or Neen for people to give a shit
if you grow up just skating at skateparks all the time, you are just learning every single trick probably and then getting them down to the point you cna toss it down hollywood high or whatever. so people develop kinda weird "special tricks" like big heel boardslides and stuff... I feel like they are less impacted by what is cool or popular in video part / magazine skateboarding because they are kinda far removed from it. their mind is just in a differnet place i imagine. i feel like you saw a lot more heelflip tricks on vert too when it was popular.

My assumption is that he will be like Nyjah

Nyjah started out as a steezed out lil 8 year old with dreads. Ginwoo is just getting started and has surpassed modern day nyjah with shorts that are already 3+ inches shorter than the jahs and some kind of weird cast socks. I can't imagine what ginwoo will be rocking when he's reaching 30 like nyjah is now? Just a straight up fullbody tour de france suit, completely shaven head and those weird toe shoes for maximum dexterity and least amount of wind resistance.

I like these japanese kids a lot that show some personality. I wish yuto would give us a little more but I understand where he's coming from.

He will become young Nyjah with dreads and good style. It is written.

Shitty Tampa judging as usual. Who were the judges exactly? Kelly, Sinclair, and Kelvin? Fucking jokers.

Is Lazer a performance art piece/psyop by Harmony Korine?

I watched some recap and saw a Kelvin Hoefler clone, Lucas Rabello clone and apparently Jagger's little brother Koston Eaton.

Tampa's probably secretly hoping on some sort of embargo on japan

you missed the Korean kid who interpreted it as a contest to do Yuto's nollie 270 tricks, celebrated his bump to ledge nollie 270 noseslide 270 out like he won the super bowl, then didn't make finals for it lol

Looking at the results page, it's surprising to see that "legit" brands are hardly sponsoring the top 12 riders. This isn't new, but it still seems weird. Not sure if the gap between successful contest skaters and the industry has ever been wider. It's almost like a separate sport/lifestyle. Might as well be down hill slalom or freestyle.

The level in the finals was unreal, and yet I didn't care to watch beyond the first run. Hope the Japanese kids go on film proper street parts.
