Another board brand, how fantastic
This was my thought exactly. I think team skateboarding companies need to die.
Every pro skater just needs his own board brand. And that board brand releases 3 signature decks every year with the pro’s name on it. Period.
Then every pro forms a collective of 5 other pro’s with their own signature brand and they release a board together and skate demos together every year.
Problem solved
Seems like a pretty nice solution, provided each pro also wanted to be their own warehouse/shipping, art/promo, accounts payable/receivable, etc. depts.
at least team management would be drastically simplified.
Text thread might look like...
Pro: “Hey, it’s me. Can I get me to ship myself another box of that shape I’m currently on?”
Pro: “No problem, I got me! They’ll be on the way to my bedroom by days end. You want what I should put them in the closet, as per usual?”
Pro: “Yeah, that’s cool. Thanks a bunch, my ho-me.”
EDIT: trucks/wheels may still have to go the traditional route, I reckon.
