I am just curious as to what everyone on slap skates or sees people skating out in their area.
I see a lot more shop decks and local company decks out in the wild to the point where seeing a "legitimate" company deck is somewhat rare.
I have always preferred shop decks or local company decks over "legitimate" company decks for reasons that I am not sure why.
Pro/ "legitimate" companies being companies that have a pro team with generally acknowledged pros.

Polar and Magenta are my all time favorite boards.

I'm still trying to find what I really like, right now it's been a heavy mix of polar, deluxe boards, and whatever I can find on sale. Really want to try the new crailtap wood though and see if it really is as much better as some are claiming.

Just started skating some baker wood after a few years of shop decks.
It is such a nice change.
-
last shop deck i had was from my precious liberty board shop.
-
Anything delux/generator wood
-
Anything deluxe/generator wood

In terms of concave, it's either shallow or steep. Don't really like those in the middle, for some reason.
-
Probably the ones people mention in SHOES/GEARS
-
I ride Politic and shop decks from my local store (Vu) Basically anything using South Central wood
-
At least 8 inches and super stiff. I mean rock hard.
Oh... you said preferred type of DECK.
-
I wish there was a local company from my neck of the woods I could back.
-
I don't think I know anyone above the age of 16 that still skates blanks.
-
Wide, 15 three quarter wheel base.
-
Now that I have a little more expendable income than when I was a kid, I always try to support skaters and companies that I like if at all possible. Kind of like leaving a nice tip at the Cracker Barrel.
-
my preferred decks are any with BBQs and BBWs on them 8)
-
colored plies or die

I'm mid twenties and skate blanks. If I can get the shape I like consistently and cheaper straight from the woodshop I don't really care about what's printed on it. It would be nice, but is not a necessity to me.

I switch it up a lot:size, shape, and brand. Always at least 8.5 and try and stick with small/local. Usually what ever looks cool when I’m at the shop.
-
Usually a brand I back, so usually something indie
Don't really ride blanks and there's nothing local going on where I live...
-
I usually support the small dudes doing shit I like.
Scumco, DoA, the whole TOA camp and Coda.
Just got Two DoA decks in today.
-
I think I’m gonna go back to DSM (enjoi) after this next isle board ending a year long generator binge
-
Only local brand I’ve bought in the past were Skull Skates when I lived in Van.
But now I want to reduce how much I consume, and ive been on my Powell Flight deck for a year now, still pops fine (for my shitty riding)
-
I buy whatever 8" pro boards they have in the bargain bin
-
I buy boards based on dimensions and woodshop, couldn’t care less what graphics there are/aren’t. Atm it’s doomsayers, next some local company.
-
8.75 and flat. pretty much leaves me to deluxe or local companies.
-
wood
-
Deluxe, Alien, Polar.
-
Anything PS or Generator. Sometimes I will skate a shop deck, sometimes an anti-hero, polar, or quasi deck. It's a bit weird to back the small local company when you're an adult and clearly not a part of that crew.
-
I've really been getting into super tapered tails lately, seems to keep my ollies a little more consistent.
-
still figuring that out to. I just got a dsm evisen deck hopefully i'll like that.
-
Chapman wood is my favorite. I really like Hopps and Hotel Blue boards... nice and stiff.
If Chapman wood is not available, I usually go for Generator wood (Polar, Magenta, Traffic or Krooked mainly)
-
Typically I ride a deluxe 8.25 mellow concave as of late. I skated Chapman wood up until last year but I feel chapmans lose pop quickly.
-
I never had a shop/local deck, but I do think it would be nice to «support the local scene» by getting one. I like to have some graphics though and the shops in my city only do very simple boards with the shop logo, but they’re pretty cheap so I might get one if I’m in a pinch some time.
I also like this one local brand, they do limited runs and only one graphic at a time. Current one’s not as nice as the previous one, but the guys who do it are nice people and deserve some support.

My next board’s still probably gonna be a «pro» board though, because I’ve been eyeing that Oskar Rozenberg deck in a P9 shape.
