Did they do an Indy mid with a regular kingpin? If they put all that money into molds and people's main issue is the inverted kingpin might be worth putting some out with normal kingpins and see how it goes.
I would be down with some forged mids with a regular kingpin
Is that combo possible with mix matching or would it sit higher than a mid?
Forged baseplate from indy hollow etc + Mindy hanger?
I have not done much frankentrucking ?? B4 so I dunno
I’ve tried to assemble this exact combo, it’s just about off as far as fit is concerned. when I put an Indy mid hanger into normal Indy forged plates, you can see the hanger digs into the pivot cup area of the baseplate. literally bought a set of Indy mids just to try that. 😂
Haha. Thx
A few people I know who had issues with the inverted kingpin on the mid baseplate ended up putting the mid hanger on standard baseplates (not forged) and they work well for them.
Usually angle grind down the kingpin and use some of my Indy low top bushings and they fit quite well all round, for the usual 52 mm tall Indy truck mash up. Cutting down kingpins is not a big deal, as is cutting top bushings, when it comes to it, but that was just a situation where they made the most of it, as I always have spare standard baseplates now and their mids were too worn / out of warranty.
When I did a mix and match with a set of the old low Indy trucks (Koston 129s) everything fit quite well with enough clearance there too, but again it is one of those things I would only do if I had the parts, not go out and buy something specific to make that setup.
The inverted kingpin baseplates that are sold as aftermarket product fit any hanger, so depending on perspective, the hangers could fit any baseplate, even though I know others (as above) have said they don't quite match up.
Just one of those things I guess, depending on how keen someone was to make something work, but in this instance, having a lower Indy is the main thing and you can't trim down any normal hangers, so you either have to find old stock of the Indy low trucks or mix and match with mids to some degree.
* I still have not seen any forged mids in all my travels, but I guess most shops I know were over the mids with the first round not selling well, so have not stocked any other variations of them.
