this thread is probably unecessary since we already have the "WHO'S MAKING THE SOTY 2021 RUN?" thread. But I went through it and added most of the names mentioned. It's a lot but Thrasher does like a top 30 so fuck it.

Maybe Mark will drop a new book entitled “Memoirs of a SOTY Run” in the next week and his Soty tour will just be book signings at Universities. There will be free Chamomile Tea and cheese danishes to cosume rather than beer, spliffs and cocaine of old. No one will yell “lets fugin go!!”, which seems great. Unfortunately they will are wear Bill Gates sweaters and act rather smug.

There are a number of names on the list that I personally like better (Tom Knox, Max Palmer, Joey O’Brien) but Suciu honestly deserves it. If not the poor guy’s gonna drop like six parts in November next year.
I wouldn’t mind Dilo winning it either.

i’m hoping tyshawn has something coming last minute. he didn’t have anything last year which makes me think he’s been saving footage. i imagine t funk’s ollie will be in gx video which also hopefully will drop by the end of the year. wilkins had a cover and has a creature part coming, so does milton.

My guess is because he hasn't released a part since he turned pro for passport whereas you have guys like Suciu that drop multiple parts near the end of the year as SOTY draws closer.
By the looks of his instagram Jack has a part about to drop though, at least if the tag "Lobster cooked" where he also tags Thrasher too is anything to go by.

Jack’s my personal favorite of anyone on this list, but I agree that as of right now he just hasn’t released enough stuff to compare to Suciu or some others. Hopefully he puts out a mind melter this month.

Jack O'Grady is my pick, but that's because I enjoyed watching (and re-watching) his Pass~Port part (and proceeding random clips) more than anything else this year; the music and his style, along with the insane tricks, really made him stand out. He also had my favorite Thrasher cover.
That said, my other favorites from this year, Eddie Cernicky and Corey Glick, weren't listed (not that I'm saying they should be). These dudes have more style than a gang of Yutos, Sucius and Dilos. However, I'm guessing Suciu will get it based on volume and pure skill. He's incredibly gifted, yet incredibly boring; he comes across as smug and not all that fun.
Louie Lopez will forever be a SOTY runner-up. I'm not sure why that is, but it seems to be his fate. He's definitely the most productive and visable rider from the FA/Hockey camp. Someone like Sean Pablo should get the opposite of SOTY, whatever that would be.
What I really want to know is why Kyle Walker is missing from that list?

thrasher would be blowing it by snubbing an “overseas” skater after the olympics, believe it or not. this award has been all about generating money since its inception and now is a monumental time to grow the industries international presence
look at past winners, the happenings in the year, direction of the skate scene, etc. fully prepared to get banged over the head with footy but outside of purely skate purposes, yuto winning makes the most sense politically and financially in my opinion

It’s gonna be funny if Yuto’s last minute, under-three minute part with a shipload of filler tricks ends up putting him over the line.

Ya, it was such a strategic part, I feel like they used like 5 or 6 "solid" clips and the rest was just throwaway.
Although Mark did a similar thing with that part he put out before his spitfire part.
Also, John Shanahan should as least be in contention. He's been putting out quality footage in every part, even if its its for some random jeans company.
