How to view my previously sent pm's?

Was trying to view a pm I sent a few months ago, but couldn't find a way to do it. My sent items tab is empty for some reason, is there another way to view it?

Unfortunately in the SMF forum software you have to check the box that says "save a version in my inbox" when sending a PM in order for it to save your sent messages.
