2x Strangelove Hell on Wheels 8.12" x 31.65" 14.12wb
Doom Sayers Snake Shake 8.25" x 31.65" 14.2ish wb (PS Stix)
Panic bought the yellow Hell on Wheels because the hypebeast dunk collector and ebay reseller types have made it so hard to get strangelove boards for people who actually want to skate them and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find the black one which is the one I wanted. The yellow is actually better looking than the black in person though, so I'm happy with both.
Doom is up there with toy machine for woodshop roulette and I didn't even realize they had done snake shakes in the last PS run so I was hyped to find one from a shop in El Paso. I got killed on the shipping and they forgot to throw the grip I paid for in the box but it happens so I'm not really mad. It was mob anyways and I'm a jessup (or blank grizzly if I want something grippier) kinda guy. Shape looks good, I haven't had a chance to mold match it yet but the tail is mellower than I was expecting. Nice stain too, if I have to get green then I definitely prefer one like this, almost a dark olive or something.
Goddamn. These look fucking great. Very jealous. Had a doom board from back when and it was one of the best decks I’ve had.
Strangelove is the best company, always bummed I didn’t buy more paisley, including a few specific graphics. Wasn’t aware that the hb’s were buying them all up. The ones I’ve had have been perfect, mellow ps.
@ok The doom is really good. The nose is pretty steep but I like that and just something about the shape works well for me. Its one of those boards that feels like it's working with you rather than battling the trick you're attempting and the board.
Strangelove is a sad story for longtime customers and supporters, although hopefully it's very profitable for Cliver & Co because they deserve it. I too wish I had loaded up on paisley, I really regret not getting a balloon boy or the citizen Tania which is still to this day maybe the most impressive screen job I've ever seen. It's like 13 screens but screaming squeegees pulled it off perfectly. Strangelove got mega popular when they did the valentines dunks and went from something old dudes who grew up on cliver would skate and occasionally collect to the new "cool" brand almost instantly. Now it's kind of like when FA was at its height and they sell out instantly if put online so a lot of shops only sell in store. Apparently Radio is going to be carrying them now though which is awesome for me.
It definitely makes it difficult for those who want to actually skate them to find them and when I do come across them they're often marked up a good bit. The shapes have all been really good, they have a short 8.25 (I think it's like 31.3ish) that they occasionally do which I really like. Unfortunately the last board they did on it was the heart skull which is like the most coveted by the dunk punks so I've been kind of hoarding the one I have for a while and only pull it out when I feel like I'm skating well enough to not waste it. They said they're doing more on that shape though so hopefully the hype dies down a bit by the time it comes out. The elves 8.25 from the Xmas release is great too.
If you want one to skate I have an 8.25 wolf boy slick that I'm selling. It's in good shape and has lots of life left. It's more of a medium, not as mellow as the elves one, but not super steep either.
