If that
Hes basically all switch and just does spins since 2012
He couldve been one of the best skaters of 2010 - 2020 probably
-
So 100% power would be a bigspin out of a switch blunt on a ditch instead of a 270 out?

wait sorry.

He skates like a Skate 3 character with the style attributes set to Hunched and OG, which everyone knows looks like shit. Standard and Loose is the only acceptable setting.

Probably a lot of skaters that never reached their potential due to injuries, the irony being that it's usually seems to be the simpler tricks people wreck themselves on or something non-skating related.
-
first Capaldi, then Alvarez. who at Crail will be next?
-
Vinnie has my all time respect for being one of the few pro skaters who genuinely seems to enjoy ripping his own driveway.

Agreed. I wouldn’t want my character skating like Vinnie Anderson.

He was a full powerhouse in pretty sweet
He wasn’t strictly low impact yet.
Good handrail and flip tricks, and has an awesome switch front bars pop over 270.
Watch on mute if you have time but this is an all time great pet imo. Editing isn’t that great but the skating is great.

Was really looking forward to the fakie 720

Everything about that besides the skating was worse than I remembered

I like Vincent Alvarez a lot. I loved his part in bunny hop. I think he has a super unique style that is prefect for chocolate in my opinion. There's something about Vincent's skating that sort of reminds me of something like Gabriel Rodriguez or Paulo Diaz in the sense that his style / trick selection is so distinct.
I mentioned this before but I felt his pretty sweet part was insane footage but I really didn't enjoy the edit. I'd love to see a re-edit. I think he probably could still skate like that physically but he's skating what he wants and how he wants. I thought his part was sick and in the tradition of unique/distinct Chocolate style and was deserving to be ender. I still think my favorite part might be his welcome to chocolate part.
His instagram is a good follow - he's a skate rat and didn't make an instagram until quarantine. He posted a switch blunt switch heel out on that brick quarter pipe that he had his tricks on right before the switch wallie ender like 6 months ago or so. I liked this quarantine part during the beginning of the lockdown. (Not related but Chris Jones quarantine part free skate mag posted was awesome too).

I think its because all of your mental focus is at hand during complicated tricks, giving you better mental acuity
if you try a simpler trick, you may think "ahh this shit is easy' and then BOOM your ankle is fucked for 6 months

His part in bunny hop was depressing. The switch heel over a 1 ft gap to sketch roll in to the ditch was unacceptable.
I like his vibe. Seems like a cool dude. Clearly loyal. Maybe to a fault.
His part should have been first.
His attitude with an able body would be great. It’s unfortunate about injuries. Worse part of this game we play. He had a lot of promise. Same with Stevie “fat face” Perez. Trunk Boyz was the dumbest thing ever and girl and chocolate mystique has long been dead.
Keep ripping “VA”.
FYI Bunny Hop was maybe a 4/10. 8 being mindfield for reference.
Also, what is up with NFT’s

To me he just filmed something new, didn't really notice

issa scam buddy i wouldn't worry about it
if crypto is still not acceptable currency at the average grocery store, i doubt the utility of digital monkey pictures as a currency as well.

Absolutely. Just flowing. Incredible lines…the cab over the gap, and the switch 360 over the pole…beautiful part.
I get how Alvarez isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m a fan. He skates his own way, and he’s put out some amazing parts. I liked his bunny hop part; it’s honestly more enjoyable than his part in the flare. That might’ve been his nadir. Personally I think Carl should’ve had last part in bunny hop, but whatevs.
Plus that firing line posted on page 1 is amazing, haven’t seen that in a long time.

I don’t wanna be mean, because he’s a lovely guy with a good head on his shoulders. But his bag of tricks os appallingly small, switch lips/tails, nose slides (all essentially the same trick). As far as pro skaters go he would have to be among the least talented. But big ups to him for making a (sorta) career out of it.

Watch his pretty sweet part pre injury
Thats whats sad

I think Vince is one of those guys that you have to see in person. Also, same goes with his spots. Crusty garbage spots. He’s a good dude and loves skating. You can tell.
-
He reminds me of Adrian Lopez & I loved his skating

Thanks for posting this. It was rad. Had never seen this before. I wish his part in bunny hop was basically this. I really enjoyed this.
Almost feel bad for my earlier remarks. I must hold ground tho. Keep it honest. I hope crail takes care of his future outside of “pro skater” status as he deserves it for sticking around the sinking ship of girl chocolate for this long.
-
I've already talked about how sick I think Vincent is and how I was really stoked on his Bunny Hop part.
My favorite part is his welcome to chocolate part:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SVtZuotD7k
Also Bonus his static 5 part which was a cool surprise the first time I saw the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Glbd51sC59g
I have never seen the flare, but his raw clips were posted on thrasher.

So many pro’s have been skating at 70% for years and making something out of it. The trick is to not film a two song part at 70% because then it looks terrible. Share a part, dress fairly cool, make sure whatever you do looks the best it can, skate unique spots (ticks that box), get an interesting and marketable sidehussle then baddaboom you can ride off into that 70% sunset boi.
What was his injury by the way?
I once saw him doing the craziest front 360 ollie revert kinda things on a miniramp, was pretty unique

This entire part could be substituted for any of his parts , trick selection-wise, and you could fool 99% of skateboarders

You saying this made me realize that that's exactly how I skate. Watching his driveway insta clip later in the thread just confirmed it. In fact that driveway footage kinda won me over, too familiar to not respect. I feel you VA I'm living that life lol.
I don't think the parts in bunny hop were ordered with any traditional skate vid sense in mind. It's a long vid in this era and people's attention spans are nil these days. If they opened with that long skit and then went straight to Vincent's part I think they feared losing some of the folks with shorter attention spans. If it was that long but ordered based on talent/aesthetics I don't think half of the viewers would make it to Carl's part.
Anyway yeah it stinks he's lost some ability but as a fellow sloppy huncher I 'back' him.
-
Anyone care about this?

Also interesting he's skated basically his entire career over there

every time i hear someone talk about how great vincent used to be it feels like im being gaslit. they'll post a video where he's "at his peak" or whatever, and i skip half way in and hes doing like a front shuv off a curb as his banger.
he's been bad forever.

“SOTY Running” is perhaps the most meaningless phrase.

You get the point he had a gnarly part in that vid then got injured and it was over
