Asteroid City.

It was a bit darker and more complex than the usual Wes Anderson film.

Thought it was amazing.  Need to see it again now.

Interesting to hear it was darker and more complex because the trailer and posters made it seem like a lark and kinda Moonrise Kingdom level relative whimsy.    Super stoked now.   Seeing that and Indiana Jones this weekend.  Scratching the two poles of my film love as a yute

It’s easily my favorite of his “live-action/animation hybrid” films (Moonrise, Budapest, Dispatch) all which I enjoyed but have left me wanting more, and were missing the feel of his earlier work.  This felt like a return to form.  Will say I dug Isle of Dogs a lot though…

Going into Indy with as few expectations as possible.  Hoping for the best.

Tried to convince myself to see No Hard Feelings - I will get there.  The Eastern Promises bathhouse scene I think you were referencing has been the most compelling pitch to see it I’ve heard.

Hah yeah I figured it’d be deep faked or something.

Thought it was a super fun ride, if flawed here and there.

I enjoyed it to an extent.   I had no idea what it was about and I thought the first big surprise was something I was interested in a less Cronenbergy way

Definitely loved the unhinged, 1% gone amok theme.

Watched "Mad Max Fury Road" again last night. That shit goes so fucking hard. Theron should have been nominated for Best Actress.

Hmm was it considered a reboot, or just reskinning Mad Max?    Id say the latter since it was still a George Miller Joint

Anyways, Anya Taylor Joy’s Furiosa prequel I believe is out next year

Fury Road is incredible.  During first few months of Covid shutdowns, I saw it at a Drive In.  George Miller prerecorded a little video intro and told us to honk at parts we like, as he did when he was a boy.  Something about watching that film in a running vehicle with the car’s radio sourcing the audio was magical.  Pretty immersive in a hilarious and fun way.  Will never forget it.

The fantastic planet was pretty cool to watch

Surrounded was really good too. Title was quite perfect

What did you like about it?  Thought it was well directed but it didn’t blow me away.  Wanted it to go more emotional, and deeper…

Was it the Silver and Chrome version (black and white)?

Enjoyed Indiana Jones a bit beyond “for what it was”.   Had a good time.    Was distracted the kid in it seemed like he was wearing a Dolphins Marino t-shirt the whole time.

Yeah I thought it was enjoyable too. It’s a fun adventure movie. Watched the previous 4 two weeks ago when I was critically hungover.
Everyone needs to rewatch Crystal Skull and accept that it’s way better than Temple of Doom.

I think if you saw it when you were Short Round’s age, it holds up better.   Always weird when people said it was a racist stereotype later on bc as a little white boy, I thought he was the coolest damn kid in the world (but I get what people were saying too)

Also - was convinced the bad guy in Twmple of Doom was Dhalseem from street fighter

I just relate to the feelings from this story. It's a heart breaking feeling you just move on and live with and this movie really demonstrated it well within an original story.

Also shout out Nora's trouser selection, I'm definitely gonna buy some tailored gray wide legged slacks
