I'm curious to see how this turns out - I think, given the reverence Akira has amongst the cinemaphile community, with the right people handling it, it could be a cool adaptation of the core narrative to a totally different setting. It could suck, too. But whatever, there have been shitty movies made before.

If they only stole the plot skeleton instead of doing a full-on Hollywood remake it wouldn't have been that bad of an idea. But they just had to fuck it up.

why doesn't hollywood remake movies that sucked instead of movies that were good? A good movie will always be good, a shitty movie will be regarded as shitty and then forgotten. so remake the shit movies and make them reasonable instead of raping good movies and turning them to shit.

Akira has been my favourite film for over 15 years. Needless to say, I don't expect much from the sequel.

They should put Christopher Nolan in charge, make it an 18 and keep it set un Japan.
