I tend to get a bit too heated and start to smash shit and focus decks... well it happened today and now im out of decks. Its probably the dumbest thing to do. Anyone had the same issue before? It's getting out of hand.

Stop being such a pooh butt. Or Clonadine .

Haha i know, its hard to think it through when you're outside its hot as fuck and shit isn't working out.
-
Throw your board instead of focusing it????... Or just try to do a simpler trick/line.
I don't even want to know what "clonadine" is. sounds disgusting.
-
just throw your shoes instead, they wont chip or break
-
Just don't skate where it's hot.
Really though... :)
-
Breathe more. Punch yourself in the head. Get some perspective. It's just fucking skateboarding.
-
chill the fuck out, it's supposed to be fun.
-
Beat off more. It's the sexual frustration making you break stuff.

I'm usually a really mellow and really calm guy. But I used to get a really bad hockey temper while I was skating. Especially when I was around 19-20. Skating was a ventilation back than and frustration ha dto get out somewhere right?
But... I never eeeeeeeeeeeeever focused a board.
I punched quarter pipes and kicked ledges... After a while I saw a clip that was being edited and there was a part of me where I was freaking out... And I thought to myself: "man, you like an person, what the HELL are you doing???!!!"...
When something is not working for you, it's not the board, it's not the shoes, it's not the weather or the spot. It's YOU.
When I get frustrated now I just take a deep breath and count to 3. And I'm over it.
Like someone else said, it's skateboarding and it's supposed to be fun.

Yep. YOU drove to the wrong spot with the wrong shoes and the wrong board.
-
Im just gonna try to let go of the trick if it isnt working out, its definitely not worth a board.

yep. 100's of 1000's of combinations and variations of 100's of tricks no need to just fuck with one all day.
-
train yourself to punch yourself in the nuts really hard when you're freaking out. Either you'll stop freaking out, or you'll make sure you don't propagate your terrible genes.

It's all a matter of self discipline. Yes skateboarding can be frustrating at times but shit if it gets to the point where you wanna focus boards n other whiny temper-tantrum bullshit like that then just let it go. It's supposed to be fun, not another thing to stress you out. Once it stops being fun, either move on to another trick or just quit for the rest of the day.
One time I was atta spot with my friends and they were all skating one obstacle and I was attempting to skate a weirder one right next to it but I kept running up and not going for it. I went for it a couple times but I was getting really pissed at myself for being scared to really go for it (granted that shit was pretty gnarly) so after doing that for like 15-20 minutes I was getting bummed so I just said fuck it and skated the other obstacle with my friends. I ended up getting 2 really good clips and had a great time that day despite not getting the first thing I tried there. Basically the moral of the story is not to let your emotions get the best of you and cut short a potentially good session over one trick

never set a board on fire (we don't need the burning glue fumes in the air) and ALWAYS donate clothes you don't want to shelters
-
free your mind while also remaining focused
if you can't land the trick today, there's plenty of time in the world and loads of other fun tricks to do
but, I totally see where you're coming from
one thing that i think helps is to film yourself and your flaws --- analyze what you're doing wrong and try to correct it in different ways. Approach the trick(s) from a new/different angle.
-
skateboarding is all in your head. once you get that heated you might as well just take a seat. try and train yourself to think positively and just relax.. you'll start to notice a difference

It's all in the flick!

holy shit, you're the worst. At least J-Bones has an aspect of his autism that he can contribute (obsessive measurement of skateboard products).

This is the answer right here man...Are you skating for fun or to get pissed off and be miserable? If you can't do a trick after trying it for a little while, go try/do something else for a bit and come back to it later if you feel like it.
The dude that I skate with all the time was going through a rough patch earlier in the summer where he wasn't skating as well as he usually does (he was even having trouble at times with his warm up/go to tricks), and he was just no fun to be around for a little while. I told him that he needed clear his mind, reset his brain, remember why he's out there (to have fun), and most importantly keep a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude.) It took a little while but his attitude changed and I can definitely see the difference in his skating now. He's back to killing it.
PMA all day!!!

That sounds ok. Beer, cough syrup, both. Same diff. I finally quit drinking, drugging, and cigarettes tho. Praise the Lord!

I honestly love focusing boards.
Its so fun.
Probably half the boards I set up, I end up focusing.
But I never do it when they are brand new.
If you think its a problem though; maybe you should smoke a bunch of weed to relax and not freak out.

And why's that, handsclapalappin?

Its just plain fun. Like I said, I never do it when my board is new.
But when I know I'm due for a new board anyway; the focus hype is high.
Maybe half the time its done in anger; when I'm getting frustrated trying something for too long.
Other times, if the day is done, and my board is thrashed, I will just focus it and throw it in the trunk.
Just a nice ending to a full day of skating.
If my board isn't completely done, I've been resisting the focus urge and just leave them at the local shop.

Maybe you need to start buying better wood than my dude.

Smash glass bottles in a bag with your board. Then rethink why you are skateboarding.
