VX is still the GOAT, it is a timeless look and fits skateboarding so well. No accident it is as popular as it is. Rare to find well filmed HD, especially HD using fisheyes (strobeck and his copy cats are mostly to blame, thanks for making only filming feet and the homeless a trend you kooks).
was a fun watch, thanks jenkem

that was pretty cool.
I didn't realize how epic and monumental the 2000's were. Come to think of it, I really don't know or care about any FULL lengths past that period.

That sounds like a “you” problem more than anything.

Every single time I think about this camera Beagle is the first thing that pops into my head so I’m stoked that they used Street Hassle at the beginning.

that was super dope.

That was great. Kinda wish it was a bit longer and dived a bit more into the technical details, the differences between fisheyes etc was very interesting.
Some techy interviews with filmers would have been nice for instance.

yall remember the mfn raymod

I posted a photo of one my VXs with the rubber eyepiece taken off (glasses crew) on Instagram and someone commented ‘bareback’ on it. That’s all I can think of whenever I take it out of the camera bag nowadays.
VX is the best and it’s even more fun to film with than anything else.

kerry shout out was class
wish they went more into the future of the vx1000 and the tape less options people are coming up with

I swear they wrote an article on this a while ago and even interviewed the porn guy. Regardless, good stuff.

This is essentially a video version of that exact article.

in that video it said something like "they stopped making the vx in 2001 and people still use them 16 years later." maybe the article was from 2017 and they didn't think to update that in the video

Canon GL1 owners weeping softly in the corner while watching this.

My favorite part was seeing what Kerry at VE looked like.

i think i used some liquid cement. god i remember i had to call my dad for help just to get that fucker apart at first - it was SO hard. i think we used a rubber band to create some friction and even then needed vice grips.

Nope. He used the thread mount full size MK1, like myself and many others (Chief used one lots too). In hindsight I wish I could have afforded a VX1000, but those cost over $4000 Canadian when I bought my TRV, which was expensive enough at over $3000. We have one to film with these days but currently we're filming a video with a more novelty set up so the VX has been on the back burner.
Fun fact - I was across the street watching those dudes skate CIBC when Koston filmed his tricks for Mouse (he was doing so many tricks on it so easily). I know Ben Chibber up here had a VX right when they came out as well, but there's a chance he was inspired by Meza. He ran with those dudes.

It was nice to watch but as being said I wish there were more interviews with filmers.

I don't think that the VX has much more longevity. Perhaps it has 5 more years before people stop releasing full videos and parts with it and maybe 10 more years before it falls out of use completely. Personally, the look is alright and not something that I am crazy enough about that I would want to see it in every video. HD is clean and crisp with pretty colors and way more options when editing. Once Beagle stopped shooting on a VX, you knew it was the beginning of the end. It's only a matter of time before the last VX is broken, destroyed, lost, or stops working.

Well you’re stoked cause there’s way more HD edits than VX. Personally, this video summed up exactly why I don’t like 16:9 HD - it makes the skating seem slower and less exciting. I also just don’t need skating to be in high definition. That being said, I wouldn’t mind having a good 4:3 HD set up like Manolo etc.
