How cool they think you are also is in direct relation to what else is going on in your life. Are you a lawyer who still finds time to skate? They love it, you are serious in life but still have passions outside of work. Are you working some minimum wage job and skating? Then they think you are trying to hard to avoid adult responsibilities by skating.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out

I usually black out whenever I land anything good
but a really well popped ollie going pretty fast is a great feeling

One of the coolest feelings I’ve gotten on my board is how, as you progress obstacles that you feared start looking smaller and smaller. Transition get smaller, corners aren’t as tight, coping gets bigger etc... It’s kind of a mind fu*k sometimes

i have this backwards. garbage cans felt a lot smaller in high school. i think i fucked around with my set up too much
