I had a bunch of Adrenalin boards in the 90's. Jaya Bonderov and team boards and I really loved that company. One team board I had I snapped first trick (pop shuv on flat) and wasn't even bummed because the graphic was still perfect and now it could go on the wall unsullied. I still have it somewhere.

Back on/ of topic though, does anyone remember that Dill interview (how I made it through a whole dill interview I'll never know) where he talks about spotting a little matt reason clone skating around MYC 2 years ago?

Back when Eastern Exposure 3/Fred Gall's section in Timecode came out and everyone was skating giant wheels, Ricky Oyola's First Division pro wheel was 61 mm. I remember I wanted to outdo all my friends in east coastness so I bought these Adrenalin Roadkills 62mm. I was also riding an 8 3/8 board, which isn't crazy now, but in 1997 with 62mm wheels with riser pads on your board, it was pretty fucked. I was having a hard time doing kickflips and this guy I was skating with told me "No wonder, you're riding a fucking snowboard."

I really hope people don't start riding 60+ wheels again.

I honestly don't know how they aren't big again. Everybody talks up rough spots, skating hills, going fast as like the most important things than go and buy fucking 50mm wheels. How the fuck can you be serious about any of those things in your tiny made-for-skate-plaza wheels?
Big wheels charge through rough/ crack filled skatespots with ease.
Big wheels help you charge and take longer, harder powerslides without becoming useless
Big wheels help you go faster with less energy.

The way I see it, if you skate under 55's and you talk up the east coast/ rough spots/ "real street" you are full of shit.

53s and 54s work fine on rough spots, just have to push a little harder but 55s are damn nice. Wish more companies made them.

I dunno...all the guys in Vase are shreddin rough spots and by the looks of it, likely skating 53mm and under wheels.

ive found it hard to skate anything over 54mm without getting serious wheelbite

that being said, I rode 60mm during the EEIII/Subzero era, but with risers...

Someone does Jaya Bonderov's roll-on 50-50 from ledge to ledge in a Strobeck edit, and then rolls off the ledge to the small side. Bonderov rolled off the ledge to the over-head-high side. So I guess that gives credence to your thread title.

I really started getting deep into skating around the mid 90s during the big wheels faze and I remember guys in Orange County were rocking them, even though everything was smooth. Funny looking back because there was no functional purpose where I grew up.

People are too trend hoppy in skateboarding. 60 mm wheels in OC is hilarious, but no less hilarious than 50 mm wheels on a diamond plate cellar door that is surrounded by 35 year old weathered pavement.

I was actually thinking about this other day when I was on Jon Miner's instagram since has been posting old Adrenalin clips--a lot of what these dudes were doing fifteen years ago is pretty in vogue at the moment (which I am personally okay with).

An aside: I was watching Foundation - Art Bars a few weeks back and realized how ahead of the curve Mike Rusczyk was. A lot of his trick and spot selection is on par with certain sects of today's youth. I got that video when it came out and I remember being absolutely mystified at his no comply kickflip up a five or six set. I was like twelve at the time and had never seen anything like that before. So sick.

Adrenalin dont need to do Videos or Team
- just reissue the 2002 art Series from Mike, Chris
and Jaya with the cameras, LP Covers and oil paintings
-i woud buy all of them and woud never ride something
else for the rest of my live.
