Not digital, a little brass one I got for measuring my wheels and seeing how worn they are. Every time I leave it at home, someone asks to use it. Plus it's just too cute to not have in my pocket.
-
Ive never even considered doing that, whats the advantage to measuring wheel ware?

There isn't one. Sometimes you just get curious about how much you've worn down your wheels. I've noticed I like to retire wheels at about 45mm.
-

Water or Gatorade
Rag/bandanna
Some kind of snack
A $20 bill. I usually use a rewards CC, but sometimes you end up a place that's cash only

I don't carry around a caliper or anything, but I have one at home and when my back heel-side wheel is about 2mm smaller than my front toe-side wheel I swap them and I like to think it increases my wheel usage time.

Wax, bike lock, knife, water, towel, fresh shirt, mask for stores, and snack's for energy.

What do you do with the chalk? I’m gonna feel dumb if the answer is art...
-
haha, nah. probably dumb to everyone else, but occasionally I like to have a little mark at a spot for orientation. Like 'don't grind further than this, because there the blocks are not flush and you will hang up', or 'start ollieing here', etc. shit like that.

I started to bring an electric screwdriver with the socket and screw heads around in my bag. I setup a lot of boards so the screwdriver saves my forearms and lots of time. I also use it to remove the pesky screws that stick out of my local ledge when the coping comes loose, sure beats unscrewing those 6" screws by hand.

Dude, general is the shit! That’s my go to for when I’m flying or trying to be low key about it.
I dipped pretty heavy when I was in the marine corps but also smoked like a pack and a half a day. I quit smoking I occasionally hit my vape but prefer to just dip.
Also my phone background is the can of cope that says dope stuff from the all hail Cardiel series on love notes.

Haha, sick. Yeah, I smoked from like 18 years but still remember snusing way more fondly. Made me feel way less shitty and I genuinely liked the taste.

I've bought a tripod for my phone to video stuff. I've used it once to film my FS Half-Cab Noseslide to see why I was slipping out. My friend whose been re-learning his ollies after a bad ankle injust has been using the tripod to correct his technique.
Putting a skipping rope in my bag, get a 2 minute skip in as part of my session warm up.

It's so rare for me to see a bag stolen.
Some fool stole from my homie few years back. Both were grown men with hands.
This was a huge frickin mistake.
My homie hit him once and 2 more on the way to the ground.
It was excessive but whatever play stupid games.
He wound up leaking severe next to the flat bar continuing to talk out their neck.
We saw him a couple days later and just laughed.
I thought he was out for revenge when we saw him but nah. He just looked at the ground.
I might not take the chance of he had given us the death look. Sometimes you got to let someone know that the only way forward is forget your embarrassment or suffer a repeat
-
I wanna use a bag. Really do but I hate skating with a bag on, and I don't think my shit gettin stolen. So I keep my keys on a really cool caribiner(sp?), wallet back right pocket, and my phone in the front left but it's a flipper/ trap phone sp no issues there. But I do wish for the days were I got nothin in the pockets.
My guy back in the days was like"skating with shit I yer pockets is like writing a paper with some one grabbing at yer pencil"

I usually take the strap and tie it up on the bench to keep it from getting snatched. Been talking a bout coming up with a more securable bag that can lock to a fence or bench. There is a crew of young hood rat kids that will take your shit in a heart beat if your not watching.
Now I wanna start a IG page of "Whats in Your Skate Bag"!!
-
Maybe just get a lock for your bag and hook it onto a fence or something?
Got a little water bottle bag for my 1/2 gal bottle. Enough room for my phone, couple credit cards, keys, skate tools and a vape. Wax in my cargo pocket. Good to go for 90% of my sessions.

I do the same thing. Makes it easier for me to concentrate.

There's a park one block away from me, it's kind of boring to skate but it's conveniently close so if I'm there I don't take much.
-phone

-water bottles
-extra mask
-hand sanitizer
-tool
-wax
-towel
-hat
-tripod for phone
-icey hot, because sometimes my calves will cramp up if I skate longer than usual, despite doing stretches and staying hydrated
However there's a way better park about only two miles away that I'll sometimes bike to, so I'll take a bit more in my bag.
-more bottles or a gallon of water
-small sandwich
-extra pair of trucks
-portable phone charger
-bike lock, which I'll use to lock my bag and bike together onto the park fence so I don't have to worry about either one
I never bother taking my wallet. Also I contemplate carrying rubbing alcohol sometimes, but I've never really needed it yet but perhaps I should add it to my bag from now on anyways.
I'm using a Burton Day Hiker 25L backpack that I found for 30% off, it's roomy but I mostly appreciate the straps to carry my board so it's easier to bike ride.
-
Hydro flask filled with water
2 extra white shirt
1 extra pants

Extra wood screws for my rails

my skateboard, cause it's a big ass roll top and i put my board in there and then ride my bike to the spot. sometimes i'll take my messenger bag and have it diagonally across my back, but i've hit too many car mirrors that way, i usually avoid the messenger bag. i need a rack so i can velcro strap my board on to that in front of me.
other than that i carry tools for board and bike, at least a bottle of water, some other drink, usually a banana or some snack, big garbage bags in case it starts to rain so i can use them as a raincover for my board. and some things i carry around with me anyways, like random change, pepper spray, some kind of knife, my bike pump, which also means i always have some duct tape at hand(emergency reserve around the handle). and some spare clothes and a towel.
-
Not enough tricks >:(

My keys and one shoelace tied around my ankle. But only if a shoelace is about to blow
A holistic homie would skate with a huge quarts crystal in his MC hammer-esque pants for it’s healing properties. He fell on a back smith. Crystal cut into his quad to get closer to his root chakra. He was bleeding profusely but wasn’t even mad, so quarts is a must carry

I started wearing this 2 pouch waist bag thing. Fanny pack or whatever ya wanna call it. Car key fits, money/Id, mask, wax, tool, snack. Shits tight because i can wear it while skating a spot and hardly notice its there.

Pack of masks, cigs, water, phone charger, Tiger Balm, beer, and maybe a pack of chewing gum.
I've recently learned the benefits of keeping a toolbox in my car just in case.
-
I added a cheap foldable camping chair, best $2 I spent so far. Fits into the laptop sleeve of my bag and really lightweight.
-
10 waters, wrist guards, candle, measuring tape.

And a random magnet that sometimes hooks up with the razor blade.
I do take a bag with me now.
Extra shirt.
Extra socks.
Earbuds
Phone holder for filming that never gets used but its there.
Speaker or boombox.
I need to add some rags because I'm sweating more than SAD these days.
Also in my trunk is a shop broom head and a extendable painters pole.
The day I had my leaf blower with me one day in the fall was awesome! I saved the day from all the leaves at the local park. lol

Damn you guys are prepared, i'm taking notes...
Even when I drive i'm lucky if i have a T tool and i own at least 3 of them. Last time i opened myself up on a sesh i had to wipe the blood on my shirt and drive home shirtless to avoid getting it all over the car.
Fittingly it was one of those ZERO army shirts, giving it a bloodstain is probably as close as i'll get to representing the true spirit of the brand anyway
-
haha, nah. probably dumb to everyone else, but occasionally I like to have a little mark at a spot for orientation. Like 'don't grind further than this, because there the blocks are not flush and you will hang up', or 'start ollieing here', etc. shit like that.
I have never thought of this. Feel like that would look a little toy in a clip.
-
1 ounce of mushrooms to sell and an eighth for myself
paguacz brand pocket wax
tube of bearings
spitfire tool
keys
gummy candy
few bottles of water
quarter of weed, some papers in case i want to spliff it up with the homies and a bowl
-
I'm a degenerate park skater so I'm good with just water, spitfire t-tool, and hardware.
-
I dont carry one. I skate to the spot 99% of the time so I like carrying the bare minimum on me. a key to the house or a couple bucks for a drink.
my contribution to this thread is what I call "emergency freshness in a bag". I encourage everyone to carry one upon their person.
it consists of:
- 1 new white large tall tee (clean)
- 1 new white a shirt (clean)
- 1 new pair of white nike socks, in case im wearing nikes that day (clean)
- 1 new pair of white Adidas socks, in case im wearing Adidas that day (clean)
will provide pics if needed.

Mines just my general bag, it's not skate specific. I commute on my board most days so I keep a skate tool, a little speed cream bottle, good absorbent towels, some spare hardware and a bushing swap in the change pocket and then in the laptop pocket I have a gallon Ziploc with stickers, some grip scraps, a set of bearings, a chunk of wax, extra insoles, and maybe a set of wheels if I'm going to be skating something specific. Main pocket is usually just work stuff.

- Ttool

Started carrying some KT tape and XL bandaids in my bag. I can't keep skin on my ankles. The KT tape keeps the bandages in place. Recently went to a camera shop and picked up some gaffers tape, it's cheaper than KT. We'll have to see how it goes.

hot tip from a long distance backpacker: Leukotape. shit will never come off and is much cheaper. leukotape plus small strips of gauze = the worlds most bombproof bandaids.

For real! ;D that thing doesn't even have shoulder straps dude! Not trying to be a dick but are y'all seriously jumping rope at the spot and rolling around with 3 pairs of socks???
-
I’d assume it’s in the trunk of a car that’s driven to a spot.
-
Ha, yes to all the above. It actually does have shoulder straps, but also just mostly lives in my car. I don't really live in a 'walkable/skateable' city, so its a lot of driving to a spot.

Damn you’re talkin about changing pivot cups mid sesh? You’re wild
-
bump.
still dont carry a bag but ive started to utilize hidden/secret stash spots throughout my city. Very convenient for extra hardware, tools, wax, and shoelaces.
maintaining a mental map of working water fountains is great too.
the last piece of the puzzle is to figure out what to do with a house key if no one will be home to let me in. Ive had the key jump out of my pocket before while skating, made it home, only to freak out when I realized I didnt have it on me any more. luckily it was just sitting there at the spot.
-
You could always hide it in the usual spots (under rugs, taped to the underside of something) but at a neighbours house. That way if someone does find it and try to use it they won’t get in.
Or if you frequently wear the same pants for skating you could sew it in somewhere since it’s really only for emergencies

@streetmeat I was looking as the same Patagonia bag as yours recently to upgrade from my simple drawstring bag sometimes but was a bit hesitant because of the price. Are you happy with it on the long run?
-
Most of the time i just grab a candle and go without a backpack, but when i take it i put inside
candle/wax
water

tool
a little package with parts (bearing, kingpin, bolt, nuts, bushing)
phone
eventually a t-shirt and some food

You're a grown ass man, time for a lifestyle upgrade.
Recently my wife gifted me a Hydroflask after months of me insisting I didn't need one and room temperature water at the park was fine. The damn bottle is so damn good, pop a bag of coffee in there to cold brew overnight and add some ice cubes in the morning. Cold coffee throughout the morning session and I'm living like a king.

I left black coffee in mine over a 3 day weekend, it was bad but the smell didn't linger.

first aid kit,

small pocket knife,

-
Bag is average sized black leather fanny pack with two additional flat zippered pockets front and back. I sling over shoulder or toss into a backpack depending on the situation.
I try to bring very little valuables into the skatepark having been ripped off before.
Tools:
Ace AF1 Compact T Tool.
Mini Multi.
Mini Utility Knife.
3.5" Combat Style Folding Knife
Old Tooth Brush
Micro Fiber Cloth
Products:
Surf Wax (softer surf wax to slick wheelbite marks).
Skate Wax
Eye Dropper of Simple Green De-greaser (for cleaning axle and nuts when rotating wheels, nuts stay tighter longer).
Eye Dropper of Distilled Water w/Bar Soap Solution (pivot cup and clicking washer lube).
Small Container of Lithium Grease (bearing seat lube for bearing insertion).
Super Glue (also a medical item).
Small Pump Spray Bottle w/Distilled Water and a drop of Dawn (I use to clean DKL non abrasive grip).
Hardware:
One AF1 Baseplate w/set of Bushings and my preferred Flat Washers.
One of each Nut/Bolt needed for trucks.
Medical:
Pads (I can fix some gnarly stuff with glue various bandages right on the spot).
Bandages
Napkins.
Large Salt Crystal (used orally if cramping due to mineral loss in extreme heat)
I use thick mill bags where appropriate to organize and store the above in the pack.
I feel I have made a super compact skate bag with really all I need to handle most situations I have or expect to encounter. Even with all items mentioned there is a good deal of empty space and the bag is only loosely packed.
I have a bag with pads in the truck if I'm wanting them for some reason.
I have a method of wrapping extra hangers/with wheels into a hand towel same as one wraps in the moving industry. I rotate between street and park wheels and enjoy how much faster and easier it is to do so with a second set of hangers. The extra hangers travel with my skate bag in my backpack and serve the purpose of extra bearings if having an issue.

Drugs. I quit weed recently cause drug tests to work as a seafarer. Switched over to mushrooms on the regular, and gear once every two or 3 weeks. (anybody else have trouble combining the two?) Tried drinking again but that ended quick. It was nice sipping a bit of wine at the park but hardly worth the time on occasion when it would turn into wasting time at a bar/pub/club buying more ect. oh yah and a 4 litre of water. Thats the most important for me, if I needed one of them that'd be it. (plus hummus and vegetables.)

Here's what is in my bag,
Helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and gloves
Skateboarding shoes
Skateboard multitool
Scissors
Sandpaper
Spare bushings
Spare T-shirt
Refillable water bottle

Ball bearing lubricant
The things I need to put in my bag soon are,
Extra shoe laces
Small hand towels
Spare hardware

Alongside the essentials like my protective gear, I have spare laces, tools for adjustments, a water bottle, my wallet, phone charger, a shirt - those are the practical staples. But then there's the random stuff that somehow finds its way in there: a snack bar or two, some spare change, maybe a forgotten sock or glove.
Truth be told, I need to get a new backpack. Mine's torn already. Been thinking about a leather one, like the one from Von Baer (https://vonbaer.com/products/liberty-mens-leather-backpack). Because it's more durable and it looks great. Skate-wise, is a leather backpack worth it in the long run? Or should I stick to a more traditional nylon option?

WHERES THE BUSH

Helmet and pads
Towel
Water bottle
Skate shoes
Complete set of hardware. Truck screws and nuts, speed rings, axle nut, kingpin nut.... 1 of everything. (Accept spare bearings. Next set that I replace I'll add a couple of the old ones to the kit.)
Ace and independent skate tools
Spread cream
A piece of sidewalk chalk
Wax
Cardboard box hurdles
Small camera tripod and remote
The kitchen sink
It's too much but it keeps it contained and keeps things from migrating to where they don't belong and getting in the way.
Plus, I was at skate day an event once where a couple of kids were sharing an axle nut. They had two full setups minus 1 axle nut and I didn't have a spare
One kid would take their run then they would swap the axle nut and the other kid would take a turn. That's never gonna happen again if I can help it. Equipment issues are not going to prevent kids from playing on their useless wooden toys while I have anything to say about it.

After today, if I had a skate bag it’d have rubbing alcohol, neosporin, bandages, and medical tape.

I need those in my bag in case too. Are you OK?

That looks really good, actually. That bag will probably last a few decades, or more. Just don’t leave it visible in your car. I’ve had windows broken out to get much, much crappier backpacks.

skate tool
wax
lighter
xtra t
xtra socks
tripod
pretty much the basics
Came back cause I added some things:
New additions to the bag living in my car
rub brick
spray lacquer - still kinda feels like cheating, but necessary
towel
broom
razor blade - put a board together at the spot and it remains
hat
speaker

I always cycle out, so have one of my paneers with stuff ready to skate:
first aid kit (bandages, plasters, hydrogen peroxide, gloves, tweezers)
paracetamol/ibuprofen
voltaren (or whatever back and muscle pain relief I have at the time)
little cloth/towel to wipe ledges/wet benches with
skate tool
size 14 spanner
spare bearings, bolts and bushings
head torch
bin bag (in case rain comes/protect the board)
emergency snack (chocolate, cereal bar)
feel like half of the stuff is not necessary but it's all come in handy before
