oh god. its finally here. i've been so giddy all week.
jeeeez relax, its game one of round one. ovechkin's fine, nothings changed. he doesn't have to carry the team anymore with the likes of backstrom, semin, fleishmann, laich, green etc.
ron mclean said it best: it ain't ovie till it's ovie
although, i feel like the habs are a stronger play off team with better discipline, more experience and stronger defense. 7 game series without a doubt.
chicago opens their series tonight and i'm expecting a good watch. thinking about how far we got last year and then considering a year's growth and the serious upgrades (hossa>havlat, madden>pahlsson) we've made is a VERY comforting thought. i'm confident in niemi but much more confident in the solid defense we've got going. i'd be a lot happier with campbell back for opening night but apparently he's making good progress and already skating with the boys so i'm sure he'll be back by round 2. until then the powerplay might suffer a little bit but i'm not worried. big byfug bagwell has been holdin it down pretty well in his absence.
p.s. marty doesn't have it in him. philly in 7, maybe 6. miller either. boston in 7.
