Title: Berle, Lutheran On . . . Olson, Cavedoni, Lasek Off

"Please join the Vans family in officially welcoming Elijah Berle and Daniel Lutheran to Vans? global skate team. Elijah and Daniel are the latest skaters to join Vans? unrivaled history of continuously representing professional skateboarding ? from the Dogtown days right up to the present. In addition to Vans signature riders Geoff Rowley, Tony Trujillo and Anthony Van Engelen, Elijah and Daniel join legends Tony Alva, Steve Caballero and John Cardiel in proudly wearing the Sidestripe, along with fellow up-and-comers including Gilbert Crockett and Curren Caples. Both Elijah and Daniel bring their own unique abilities, sensibilities and personality to the team and we look forward to their contributions to the first-ever feature length Vans team skate video and future footwear projects.

At this time, we would also like to announce that Vans will be parting ways with the following individuals and thank them for their commitment to Vans and to skateboarding over the years as we wish them well in their future endeavors: Bucky Lasek, Alex Olson and Massimo Cavedoni. "

So weird. Just the other day, Olson was talking about the pressures of the impending Vans video. Guess the pressures off. More footy for the Choco vid i guess . . .

That can just mean they don't have pro models anymore/right now. They also didn't mention Chris Pfanner, Andrew Allen, Chima, Keegan, etc. Dollin and JLay are still on the Vans site while Lasek, Cavedoni, and Olson are off.

Alex was wearing Janoskis at the SB premiere on Saturday. There's been rumors that he's going to be on Nike clothing as well. Batface was wearing Chukka Lows on at the SB deal, a lot of people that aren't on Vans wear them casually but Chukka lows seem like an odd casual shoe.

Never would have expected Olson to get the boot from vans ( I'm assuming it was that way, though considering Dollin and Layton are still on I guess I'm less certain). It would be pretty weak if he went to gravis I think, him and Dylan? Would just look like they are trying way too hard. Nike is a kind of  weird fit but I'm into it. And with these S.B chronicles things apparently coming out every year there is a handy place for him to put that left over vans footage. (anybody heard any rumors about who is going to be in vol.2 by the way?)

1.He got the offer when the team started, he didn't took it. No real rumors about now.
2. According to prod there's going to be one every year, by the end of it, he said he would be on the third one.

this is true. nike would not dig on that. i know a dude who does vfx who had to fix people skating in "the wrong shoes" in a fairly recent video.  the kind with a big budget.  they also do things like take out distracting signage in the background (he had to do a few for leo's part, among others, in stay gold). it sounds like bullshit, but it's real and it happens more than one may think.

how long ago did olson get on vans? it was around 3 years or so, right?  nobody's thinking it's as simple as his contract expired and he moved on?

Signature or not I'm just glad Dollin and Layton are still on....

I can completely understand why Olson, Massimo and Lasek are off. Olson was probably a large check almost nothing in return, don't get me wrong I like him when he skates but he hasn't had much real coverage over the past couple years. A couple ads, a couple little street clips and some park footage, he looked damn good doing it all but his endorsement wasn't worth the investment I'm guessing. Vans could probably ad Lutheran and Berle for the same price and those dudes have put out insane amounts of coverage. Massimo's footage in Real was short and disappointing and Lasek....well we all know he's not helping sell any shoes. I'm surprised there was no mention of Dill being added to the team, perhaps his annoucnement well come in 2012? I'm glad to see Vans in staying on top of their team and clarifying by updating their site.

I'm glad to see Vans in staying on top of their team and clarifying by updating their site.

from what I remember lakai let alex go because another company (vans) offered him a large amount of money? guess nike had an even better offer to make.

yeah, that's what i was guessing..   i suppose it's possible Vans would kick Alex off, but he seems like a marketable rider for any team, despite having arguably less footage than some people

Yes I  did actually, I was really looking forward to his footage too, but his style got weird and his trick selection was bad. Idk the whole Real video was a huge let down but his footage wasn't even good. In fact all I can even remember is that hideous 360flip tailslide. I mean what else did he have to film for? He couldn't come through with a full part? I'm not trying to bash the guy, I actually really liked his previous stuff and backed him but I can understand why he is off vans.

i think the whole deal with him not having a full part was that the team is pretty bug to where 3 parts were shared (nick/ernie kyle walker/antoine and massimo/brockel).. i personally dug his style..esp that line with no pushes in between... but yeah the vans team is really big. hopefully he gets on a shoe co that will give him more coverage

this is true. nike would not dig on that. i know a dude who does vfx who had to fix people skating in "the wrong shoes" in a fairly recent video.  the kind with a big budget.  they also do things like take out distracting signage in the background (he had to do a few for leo's part, among others, in stay gold). it sounds like bullshit, but it's real and it happens more than one may think.

how long ago did olson get on vans? it was around 3 years or so, right?  nobody's thinking it's as simple as his contract expired and he moved on?

massimo was injured for a while, hence the lack of footage.

someone was claiming on here pretty recently though that he would be putting out a new part really soon and that it would include the best line ever filmed at the sf library(better than carrolls even).

Morf got it around the time of his fixed gear deal. JJ got a couple cause of his Hi-Bond thing. TG for his newer record maybe. Max has 4Q. Vans seems to do these for skate dudes that have some other creative thing going on outside of skating. Not because they're getting put on the A team. Probably aimed at older skaters who need a snazzy shoe to wear to the skart show at the gallery, or to the skate music show at the hip club. not knocking it. just sayin.

Though Massimo had a shared part, someone on here said he had filmed a good amount that will be released in a b-sides or something.
Massimo had enough footage for a full part and was supposed to have one but Dan Wolfe made him share one with Robbie Brockel. I could easily have done without three slow mo intro parts in order to get a full Massimo part. In regards to the b-sides, that person was just asking Real to release a b-side because he knew that he had enough good footage.

i never understood why they added dan wolfe to the editing team. the real video didnt need a big time editor to headline the video just the normal one that did all the other ones and made them awesome. the real video has some of the best footage but the editing wasnt all there. roadrunner for busenitz? i get it. he skates fast so we use a couple corny songs? duuuuuuude. correct me where im wrong on any of this. was ishods slow mo intro necessary? was that cheezy homecoming song for busenitz tight? fuuuuck no.

Correct - I got a pair of the Max Schaaf 4Q era's - one of the best shoe's I've ever had. Wore them for 2 years - now I am finally skating them. They murder my feet cause they're shot, but with triple stitched super awesome leather and fireproof suede...

But most of his shit has to go the motorcycle scene promo. and 4Q of course.

His shit will come with motorcycle grips, rags - shit like that.

Who doesn't like a good cross promo with vans - I like anything they do,  for example: I don't like the chukka low, but Andrew Allen did a colorway and I was like oh cool. I enjoy geeking out on shit like that. Vans will come through with that more so than not - but then again, they have the most awesome crew...I mean go watch any shore break baby
