Sports betting
« on: March 27, 2022, 07:34:01 PM »
With March Madness in full swing, I was curious what people's experiences are with sports betting? I don't really want to go to a casino, but at the same time betting online via Bovada or other sites seems a bit sketchy.

Thanks in advance for your insight!

I do not give a fuck about sports but I do little $5-10 bets on bodog for shits and giggles every now and then. It's fun.

I gamble a lot. Basically my entire weed budget is financed from gambling. I play more casino games than sports betting because I hop around from site to site and exploit promos a lot, so I'm usually trying to clear bonus funds. I'd say probably about 30% of my bankroll goes towards sports betting, I do best at NFL and soccer. Soccer is a fairly safe way to grow your bankroll if you're patient. When I'm in a slide and trying desperately to avoid having to make a deposit I'll usually slow things down and "invest" in some over/unders like low interest stocks or something. With NFL I'll sometimes go nuts with 6-12 leg parlays for 25-50 cents and just put in like 150 bets and see what hits. My best parlays were 13 legs (forget the odds) and then an 11 leg that was +14000ish. I've missed the last legs on better ones a few times as well.

Nah I'm saying about 30% of all my gambling is sportsbook stuff. The rest is table games and slots. When I buy weed the money primarily comes from my gambling winnings rather than my paycheck or investments. If I'm doing well then I buy more, if I lose enough to hit my budget for the week then I just stop gambling and buy less weed until I'm ready to make another deposit, but it's been a minute since I had to do that.

Never understood the allure of gambling in any capacity. Even scratch tickets are kinda wack.

I used to bet on boxing a lot on bet365. Had some pretty solid wins (a $70 wager that paid out $1000) but fucked around and lost a lot too. Probably broke even in the end or lost a bit before I decided to quit entirely. I have enough vices already.

been using bovada for years and didnt realize i wasnt "legal" in my state. i just pop $25 a few times a year and play off whatever i win and ive never needed to cash out so it hasnt crossed my mind that it might become a hassle.

most of my bets are on a whim, like beginning of season to win the championship of x,y or z. lately i've been playing with house money i won off a bet months ago. doing random nfl parlays of 2-3 things. turned $25 into $300 over a couple weeks on those. back at roughly $25 now. it just makes watching football more fun for me. the money at this level isnt that important, especially since i dont know if i can cash out lol.

there have been some nights i just jump in there and play the slots like jungle adventure 17 and lose it all. there was one night me and my gf were drunk after the superbowl and bet the money i won off the pats on horse racing that was not even televised lol. maybe more than drunk.

right now if i need to grind, ill just drop whatever i have on a live bet for the team thats winning. $25 turned into $27 all day long on random sports i've never heard of can build up.

degen confirmed.

I despise how hard the advertising push for it is now that it's legal. During every sporting event they're shoving odds down your throat. In the Heath interview, Tony Hawk looks all baked while he's telling me fucking football odds for draft kings or something. Fuck right off. I hate all the shitty promo things they use to lure people in too because no one understands how that scam works at first either.

I still keep my sports betting to when I'm actually IN Vegas (or a casino with a book), just to keep myself in check.  It probably helps that California still doesn't have "legal" sports betting (Bovada and what not available but not Draft Kings etc).  So I still have it as a treat to do when I'm somewhere that I can go up to a window and bet on NFL, NBA, NCAA etc to keep things in check.
