They most likely just get their veneers from the same supplier. They come pre dyed. There’s only a handful of factories that make veneers for skateboards.

There’s not a lot of different people making skate specific materials, so unless your like dwindle and have your own cheap factory and can make proprietary shit, a lot of it is just different chefs cooking with the same ingredients

Drifter makes all his boards.  Presses them in a shop, behind his house, and paints/applies graphics in his garage.

And his decks are tough.  I skated one for three months.

Weird.. I know drifter definitely dyes at least some of their own boards and they're actually quite good at it, similar to Pennswood.

I wasn't super impressed with either of the drifter decks I've had but they were also really poor fits for me from a shape standpoint so I don't feel like that's a fair assessment of the quality of the deck. I've been considering getting another pet deck because I love short boards (and the first one I got turned out to not be one of the short ones despite what the shop I bought it from said) but I'm kind of scared that they're all going to be the same steep kick mold that my first one was. Also I'm a little weirded out by the other shit he sells.

Been feeling the madness BAD lately. Been through 8.25, 8.3, 8.5, 8.7 this past week and now trying 9. I loved the 8.7 so thinking this 9 is gonna be the go. I’m super short so we’ll see how this goes haha.

Thinking about trying Bones Softs but not sure. Any opinions?

It depends how much you want to carve.

Bones softs are super carvy, but cranking them down all the way makes them mushroom and they won't feel like Bones mediums.

Ok

I been hurt for something like the last 4 months and today was the first time I’ve been able to skate

As you can imagine I did not want to fuck around

I don’t have a tool so I took this before I met my mates and put my shit together

Can’t do the picture why am I so regular

Polar oski football shape it’s symmetrical and like 8.75 at the widest point but I got 149 Indy titaniums on it and my shits flush. It’s got that pocket it tres like a mf and I got 99d conical 53s. I’ve only ever skated normal boards. This things the business

I’m pretty out of my mind, and will for sure switch stuff too much, but if I ‘love’ it, then.....I don’t.

^I normally hate anything that isn’t plain black grip, but I actually quite like that grip job.  Good looking setup in general.

Well, I actually missed a few slappys and there are tiny scratches. It wasn't intentional with the forbidden 14. I just did a few noseslides and struggled with some fs tails today. ^^

State shoes are really good but they can be difficult to find sometimes. I've skated a few pairs and liked them every time.

I’ve thought about having a board on my trunk but aren’t you scared of the heat messing them up? Or better question, does it mess them up?

I used to be the same way. So on days I knew I would skate; I'd bring my board, shoes and hat. But the last few years, I started just leaving everything in my car and I end up having spontaneous sessions and just skating more in general I feel. If you store them grip side up, you might get some sun/wax spots. But nothing serious, to me anyways. I have some friends who are really picky about the condition of their board. Not me. I ride them until they are thrashed and don't mind a little sogginess. Also, I think its major heat fluctuations that would damage a setup and I'm in SD, so don't have to worry about that.

NC checking in.  Hot and humid here and I always keep my board in the car.  Never had any issues.

Here’s my starting lineup. Most of them live in my car. Internal temps can reach 100-170 in sunlight, but doesn’t seem to have an effect of any of them. The Quassi is my skatepark/bowl/transition board I set up right before COVID-19 shutdown all the skateparks, so it hasn’t been taken out of my trunk in 5 months. It wasn’t warped or soggy, and it still had a crisp feeling pop

Plastic baseplates and bridgebolts and all. These things are truly horrible. They’re loose and don’t turn at all. This board is almost as old as I am. I’ve had it since 2005. I skate it for about an hour once every year. It’s good for impossibles and no-pop shuvs  and that’s about it
