Title: Matt Mumford
Post by: dirtywork81 on September 09, 2015, 05:53:14 AM
Matt Mumford now a days is known more as pool/ tranny skater, but man he used to shred rails. We all know about the Mumford arm syndrome and when it comes to handrail skaters we usually think of Heath, The Chief, Duffy, Templeton, etc but back in the day Mumford was a beast. Would love to see a new Slave part with him skating some street.

This part is timeless.

Matt Mumford - Misled Youth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgkYmO1mTJI#)

Hes really rad. He did a bunch of first try at El Toro. Also I remember some interview with Shane Cross maybe from 2004 when Mumford let him couch-surf and was super fun to read. Shane was mad because Mumford put him to do chores and to take a shower at least every four days. Then he call Mumford "old man watching boring cowboys movies" and he move on with someone who owns a Play Station.

I really like $lave and he wasnt involved somehow with Legacy before that ? On that interview Shane was on that brand and Emerica.

Remember that week when he was on Adio ? And that week he was on Supra ?

I love all of his parts:

Zero "Thrill of it All" --> caveman grinds cause he had a bummed ankle but still wanted to skate and film

Zero "Misled Youth"-> Great Sabboth track and doing nollie smiths down rails (ahead of its time)

Transworld "The Reason"--> El Toro

Globe "Opinion"--> More handrail madness and great Stooges track.

Black Label "Back in Black" --> seeing him morph more into a bowl/ tranny skater. Crazy head dome smash!

Slave "Radio Television" --> such a great part with a great track.

Aussie legend who has killed it for so long now. He was on invisible back in the day too no?
Also way ahead of the skaters-who-ride-harleys pack

Mumford is the reason why I started getting into handrails.  Opinion was the first skate video I ever saw and Mumford's part really influenced me a lot.  Definitely a legend in my book.

Mumford is The Man. No matter what the spot is, he leaves it in smith-ereens. See what I did there?

No one has mentioned his ripping dying to live part. I had a sick Mumford board around that time with a stain glass demon. One of the best zero series IMO

Dude killed it on the Australian scene for YEARS before he migrated to the US.
Did a fucking STOMPER of a gap in North Sydney back in the day (Asakusa75, you know which one I'm talking?) too.

Yep...Dane switch ollied it too. The one over the flat bar and down right? You land into that other marble spot with the out ledge off the stairs.
Danes switch ollie is seriously fucked up.

I'm pretty sure Lizard had a trick there too the last time he came out to Aus. I'm sure Asakusa will be able to find a pic of said spot but do you know the perfect brown flatbank next to this double set?

It's directly across the road from there (as I said though it's looks like it's under construction atm)
