Some damn fine grip art here.  I just setup my next board yesterday….keeping it simple with a kanji number 4….

Let me guess, you are now in your mid thirties, pining for a time when skating was all about trying to nerd out on a curb on under 8-inch popsicles with plain black grip, listen to hip-hip, and rock your fresh DCs to impress the girls in their raver pants and Etnies.

You used to mock the older skaters with their hopelessly out-of-date shaped boards and grabbed tricks. How old and lame they seemed! Out of touch!

Then one day you pull up to the local park to warm up before hitting the street (it seems like you need longer and longer warm-ups these days, and once simple flip tricks are now a struggle to retain).

You see kids with shaped boards, girls even. They are running the park, with their odd fashion, music you can’t quite get into. And they are grabbing their boards as much as they are flipping them.

You pop in your earphones, crank some Nas (the new album isn’t bad), and take shelter bu the manny pad, hoping none of those faggoty boards with colored grip come near you. You close your eyes, and try to remember the good old days…

Well there ya go Sharpo! This is the most attention you will get on here and it didn't pan out to good for you. Maybe you should consider being done now.

I asked my buddy if I could take a picture of his behemoth he spent like 3 hours gripping. We were so gassed on how it turned out he decided not to skate it. so he went out and bought another behemoth to skate that. Now this remains as an emergency deck for him. Not art, but it’s art.

Well I have like 9 Andy Anderson dated flight decks.

speaking of griptape art. i i allways do mosaic/patchwork kinda griptape art. but have this one board i gripped a year ago, and never set it up. now i set it up last week and i am so bummed on the griptape art i did a year ago. its not my style at all anymore.
i thought myself to not grip boards to much in advance of riding them cause i already realized this problem. but i still had this deck laying around and had to skate it someday.

Holy shit! Did your homie cut those little circles out with a scalpel or something? I am impressed, all those cuts take a lot of time, focus and patience.

I once spent 3 hours with a grip job and that deck broke after 2 hours ^^

Whenever I spent a lot of time with grip design, the deck would break super fast. So now I just let friends paint my grip and the curse seems to be over. Here's an old pic of my cruiser (Control blank 8.5 fish) before I set it up. Done by a very talented friend.

That’s sweet.
