Late 90s Style Skate Shoe Shitpost
« on: June 27, 2020, 11:55:24 AM »
I'm starting this shit up because it is a slowly rising trend, most seen in the styles of Shanahan, Cepeda, and middle aged men who graduated in 2000 and recovered from a Southern California meth addiction.

My personal favorites:

DC Legacy 98 Slim

DC Lynx OG
Gonna go down to the Bronx and hang out with the gonx

And it's not a slowly rising trend, it has been going for a few years now...

I would say most thanks to Tiago!!

Even the Dunk resurgence is part of this late 90s/ 2000s trend

That commentary is pretty accurate (aside from the meth).

I didn't, I'm not skating them so it doesn't faze me too much but if you're unsure id jump up.

Some kids at the local complimented my DC maswells and I couldn't tell if they were being sarcastic. They said the big shoes look more comfortable

I went true to size and although they’re a little snug at first they skate great. I don’t size up in the kalis lite either tho if that’s any help

Haha well I meant... show some respect for middle aged men like AVE etc. (who also happened to be addicted to drugs)

Bought a pair of Etnies Caili-cut a last year. The reissues are too stiff to skate in. Good chill shoes though.

I really like skating the revamped versions of shoes.
These are a few of the latest pairs Ive had and all of them have skated like a dream. (Haven't skated the Carrolls yet though) I definitely fuck with this take on shoes, so please DC, Lakai, Emerica, and the rest of the bunch get your shit together and keep (or start) making shoes like these!

Skating these right now

I'd be down with trying the Kalis vulc or the Carroll's but for the most part I'm not a fan of the foot pillow era despite having grown up in it.

A few months ago I bought a pair of etnies faders just for the sake of nostalgia and made it about 5 minutes before wondering why the fuck I ever thought not being able to see or feel my board was a good idea. I'm definitely happier reaping the benefits of modern shoe technology.
