People saying the US has shitty animals has never been to the rural south. We have snakes (venomous and non-venomous), armadillos, raccoons, possums, rabbits, and all sorts of shit.
Just the other day my partner found a rather large Copperhead snake in my backyard. Scary as fuck to know it's there, but still a sight to behold. Had a pretty large armadillo on my porch around September of last year; went outside to have a smoke and just saw him scurrying off into the woods, but still cool to see. Raccoons are little menaces, but I love 'em. Still gotta keep my trash can locked down in case they come scavenging.
Oh, and I see the occasional bats flying around the back 3 acres of my property. Can't identify them as they're way too far away to do so, but they're definitely bats.
