I kinda of resent grecos comments, and to that extent Reynolds comments in a somewhat recent interview when asked about drinking (he pretty much said the same things, it/they will ruin your skating).
Not everyone is looking at skatebparding as a career, or trying to be the best at it. Telling some kids who have fun smoking weed and pushing around town, or some guys drinking beer while skating a mini ramp that they are "skatebparding wrong" is pretty lame. The aren't skateboardibg to win it, it's something they enjoy, and like to combine other things they enjoy with it.
On top of that, not everyone who drinks or does drugs goes down the destructive path. In fact, most human beings drink and at least dabble in drugs, so realistically over partying or becoming an addict isn't nearly as big of a threat as people on the sober soapboxes make it out to be.
Sure, people over do it, fall off, and fuck it all up. But just because someone can't take a couple of bumps every so often and not throw their lives away doesn't give them the right to tell me whats acceptable for my life. Cheeseburgers taste pretty great, but should we ban/demonize them because some idiots eat them every day and die of heart attacks?
People who don't have self control have nothing to do with my life, and I resent them judging my actions because they couldnt control theirs.
