The night I sprained my ankle.
The following day.
It's still swollen like hell, but I can pretty much walk without limping. If I wasn't wearing hightops, I would have rolled it like I normally have for over two decades. Instead, I folded it back. So much regret, but none of it will make it feel better.
wow, I skate for 7 years but I have never gotten one of those. I think I have been really close a lot of times tho. I always somehow manage to fall with it instead of just rolling it and my body staying up. How long does it take for those things to heal?
It doesn't take long for me to heal up usually (I'm already walking around with pretty much full range of motion). The part that sucks is your ankle is susceptible to re-injury for a good while afterward. As I said about the hightops, my ankles had gotten used to getting rolled a certain way (so much that it would look like I rolled the shit out of them to an outside observer, but I'd be back on my board in 15-20 minutes). With the hightops, I folded my ankle back since my foot followed the path of least resistance when I placed a good bit of my body weight on my ankle on the moment of impact. I don't know how long it will take to be 100% since this isn't usually what happens. It may be months before I want to take a chance again (trying anything high risk), but I'll be riding in a month or so.
