Why would anyone run through a graveyard

Mike V

I remember when Mike V was doing 180 kickflip mute grabs over fun boxes. Put some respect on his name.

Little Miss Muffet, did a pop shuvit,
and slappied some curbs on her way

Got a long backside slider,
on the handrail beside her
And felt like she was Jeremy Wray

I write bad poetry also but I keep it in an old shoe box under an unmade bed in a dusty attic.

When will he realize he'll never be Henry Rollins? Stay in your lane, Mike!
I dunno, he has gotten into Black Flag by sheer force of will. Give it another 10 years of him doing sigil based pop magic or whatever he has been doing and I think that he will complete his transformation.

There once was a guy name Joe
Who knew every trick you can know

He dropped out to make a sponsor-me video
And went to film a clip with his bros

The wrong spotter he chose
His head broke the car window

Now Joe will never get on Nike flow

I’m a minority on this hill and I’m fine with that fact.

Nah I'm walking up there right now with some beer but man it's steep.

I still like Mike a fair deal and to me this is not THAT surprising if you've checked up on him every now and then.

However it is true that he's hilariously becoming like Henry Rollins. I guess Black Flag does that to people.

I hope these poems explore the irony of running a core, family-owned skate brand out of your garage while simultaneously accepting checks to be the seasoned-veteran face of Cariuma.  Mike V’s out-Mike V’ing himself on that one.

Bummer. I thought it was going to be just 1 poem about 23 Skateboards. Shot out to Sal, I miss that company.

I don't know.

Where skateboarding has become the most commodified and commercial it has ever been - I'm stoked that there are still people like Mike V, who represent the type of creative weirdos that used to be the heart of skateboarding. I don't always agree with Mike, but I couldn't imagine Nyjah, Foy, or any other 'athletes' taking the chance on this type of self-expression.

Kudos to Vallely.

yeah, you've got a point! we'll be begging to have people like Mike in our culture in 10 years time because it would have gotten so bland by then...

Mike V makes my very core embarrassed but I agree with this. He seems totally contrived but he’s a maniac and I can’t not take notice.

We fell from Reebok and Puma
To Footprint shoes and Cariuma
Corporate interests come to play
Joey and Paul hart had something to say
Steve got drunk and read the rules
To a warehouse full of influential fools
If the center cannot hold
Then Tony’s blood cannot be sold
But the center fell apart long ago
And now his eyebrows can never grow

Don’t dip your head in or your board will end up behind you

Try walking a mile in my shoes,
but I've changed shoe-sponsors so many times ...
that you can't.

I've tackled barricades, I've fought cops,
securityguards and all in between in my prime ...
all over the land.

International star, kicked off, laughed at
for not eating meat, and wearing a helmet at all times ...
but here ...

Here ... in my street-plant garage ... I ... still ... stand.

I wonder if he's ever workshopped his poem or had an editor review them. Still, it's always good to see literature and poetry being valued.
