Metal Skateboards
« on: May 11, 2022, 10:06:02 AM »
In an effort to not have too many parallel conversations happening in the Ben Raybourn reborn threads, let's have one just about Metal Skateboards.

According to Ben's Cold Call video, sounds like Metal is going to be under the Alien Workshop domain soon. I can see this much anticipated Freddy part being the official (re)launch of Metal.

What do you all think? Who's got the inside info?
How much is Lou Metal going to be associated with it?
What other riders will we see besides Freddy and Ben? Who would you want to see?
Is it a bad idea for Alien/Habitat to have a third brand after what happened with Seek?
Did you know that Mike Daher and Jerry Fisher were going to be part of the initial launch of Metal Skateboards?

In the meanwhile, here's Fred Gall's part in Metal Decade of Destruction video from 2005.

It sounds like they're going to reproduce their 90s shapes, which would actually be super fun and would probably make me buy an Alien product for the first time since ~94.
This is not my SOTY. I'm telling my kids there was no SOTY for 2021

Can someone explain the history of Metal? Was it a brand before? I thought Decades of Destruction was an XYZ clothing video. And who is Lou Metal?

I'm personally looking forward to this company more than any recently announced new board co.

Here is an interview with Lou Metal talking about the history of Metal.

Also a good time to post this deck (EDIT: This is a Freddy one-off from a while back, not something new):

Can't find the picture but I had the Kerry Getz Habitat x Metal collab deck from like 10 years ago. Very cool they're coming back especially with the Sovereign Sects backing!

Edit- could only find Fred's deck. The getz one had a Viking and I remember the Janoski one was like a vampire, just going off memory of seeing them in person at the shop.

Alex Olson never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

Pretty’s sick graphics actually, All the ones you guys posted. I wasn’t aware of the new Ben vid when I posted that. All caught up now, and Fred Gall, 90’s shapes/graphics and the AWS connection is pretty tight. Now I see why your all so excited.
