I have some photos from years prior to these that meant a lot to me, but these are my faves that are really etched in my brain. I have other favorites from 86-90 that my kid self loves, but 34 years into skating, these are the ones I always go back and look at still.
Mullen - the angle, lighting and that era:
Wade Speyer - the gear, the hands, the style. Lighting (recurring theme in my faves):
Jason Rogers - loved H-Street. I had those shoes, thought this was the sickest photo. had on my wall for years
Frankie Hill - there was an old rail shot I loved, but this one always stuck out because of the close up of the flip.
Jason Lee - I tried to copy the clothes he had in this, but my parents didn't buy me shit so I had a light grey Powell shirt I would wear to go with my army green pants. I was extremely psyched that Lee rode Indys
Klein - There were 2 older pics of Jeremy that I really love but the flip on this was just awesome. And the shape of the board. I tried to copy Jeremy's trick selection a lot. 14 year old me was bummed that he did not ride Indys because I wanted us to have more in common. The mind of a 14 year old.
Jordan Richter - The lighting, the trick, the hands, feet on the edge. Small wheels. I also thought it looked cool because he want's really wearing "skate gear" or something. Cool photo
Way - That era, spot, the angle, the shoes, the trick. Sick!
Guy - Always liked the way this one looks. Seeing those Ventures was cool. The face and the trick
Sheffey - enough said
Lennie - I am a huge Lennie fan
Heath - the colors of the black and red, the trick, the background.
Gino - Love the switch flip, the shoes, the flip of the board, the background, and recall thinking his tattoo looked neat also.
Cardiel - Wide shot to see the spot, Cardiel's style. The man
