Has anyone used a Cannon SV 518 auto zoom super 8 camera before?

I've been having trouble getting the film to slide past the shutter. When using another Super 8 camera the same film rolled past just fine.
It seems that the camera advancer isn't working properly and at one point even ripped the perforations on the side.
Is it fixable?

No experience fixing these cameras but have you tried another roll of film? I have this one particular roll that wouldn't work in my old Canon 318XL, but it worked fine in another camera. ran multiple other rolls through that same 318 afterwards with zero issue. shit's weird, can't explain it.
