I've had two pairs of the eS' Theory 2.0's with the lace protectors, but the lace protectors would always end up breaking after a few sessions.
How did they break? If they are on the inside like the pic or are they different ?

Yeah, they are like the ones in the pic. And the lace protector would just rip and become disconnected. I still have an old pair of the eS' laying around, if you really want to see what I'm talking about I can take a picture.

Skate shoe companies used to incorporate lace protecting technology into the shoes, but then they realized you'd have to buy more shoes if they made them less durable and we entered into the second age of the vulcanized sole.

Habitat footwear still does this on some models
